Real Madrid Vs Liverpool

This has to go down as one of the oddest games I'm preparing myself to watch. I'm so utterly convinced we'll lose I'm not sure I see the point in making the effort. Still stranger results have happened so you never know I suppose.

Rub that bloody pig!

Astute tactical management needed for this one.....

4-5-1 deffo

-------------------Mingo---------------------

Glenjo------Skrtel----Lovren--Enrique

------------Lucas------Hendo-----------

-------Sterling---Gerrard----Coutinho

-------------------Borini-------------------

Thats as hard a working side as we have at present.....

And we give away a stupid penalty just to kill off any hopes we might have had.
3 1 Madrid.

I can't ever remember feeling so pessimistic about a game. I wish I could summon up a single positive thought...but I can't. We're going to get twatted.

I agree Peggy.

I almost wish we would play Suso and some kids to at least give me some shit to be happy about.

No Joe Allen?

We need to hustle them. An aggressive 4-6-0 ought to do it.

Lucas Can
Coutino Hendo Allen
Coutinho

An unfortunate final sentence. But I've asked this before - what is logical about reacting to your best team under-performing by playing those who you've previously judged not to be worth putting in your best team? It's no good putting quotation marks around your best team and then turning the squad upside down. Do you think we haven't been playing our best team this season? If not, why not? If we have, why act as a cheerleader for not playing the best team, or 'best team,' tonight? There's just no rigour in these arguments at all.

Fact is "our best team's been shit all season", so you're happy enough for us to persist with it every game and suddenly everything clicks? I'd have thought there's more chance of that happening with a few changes in personnel...albeit that's highly unlikely to be the case tonight.

But that also means a run-out for Old Faithful, doesn't it @Judge Jules ?

Guaranteed steely 1-0 win

Old Faithful will absolutely be on duty tonight (though Real's excellence was too much for it in the first leg unfortunately). Can't do much to shield myself from the studio punditry - which will include Paul Scholes, and I can imagine what result he's hoping for - but I'll be sparing myself Tyldesley and Townsend's commentary by muting the sound and replacing it with Five Live on the radio.

No Gerrard, Coutinho, Henderson or Sterling. So he's rested pretty much our best players.

I don't know what to make of it. It's horribly defeatist, but perhaps some of the players who've actually been picked might want to showcase themselves a bit.

Toure and Skrtel against Ronaldo & co. though. Gulp.

what the fuck is that? playing real madrid in the champions league after being out for years and we just bend over for them cos we've got a game at the weekend?
