Why that fat cow-headed fuckwit didn't play Kenwyne Jones I have no idea, but they were shit.

He's only just coming back from injury, Sunderland have won their last few games without him, and Campbell's scored in their last two games (I think).

That's why.

What about last season when Gerrard got his highest ever goal tally from that position?

And just how many were in open play? I bet an awful lot are pens. In 07/08 he really was playing well there IMO, but only with Torres, and scored a fair few running into the box/shooting from a bit out. How often has he had a good game in that position this season?

So? How many penalties did he get in 07/08? He won player of the season in 2009 and scored 24 goals in 44 games that season as opposed to 21 goals in 52 appearances in 07/08. Two great seasons, obviously, but last season was the best Steven Gerrard has ever played in his career. He certainly wasn't average.

This season has been a disappointment to say the least, of course. But that's not because he's crap in the position. He's proven that he isn't.

*EDIT* Oh but yeah I agree with you that he looks a completely different player when playing alongside Torres.

Reina 7
Insua 7
Agger 8
Carragher 7
Johnson 8
mascherano 8
Gerrard 8
Kuyt 6
Maxi 8
Babel 6
Torres 9 motm.

That's about the one.
I would say that after Fernanado I would give it to Maxi. Rodriques was excellent today, fantastic little touches and deftly weighted little balls right into peoples paths, a very intelligent player and that makes up for his lack of pace. He was at the heart of most of the good things we did today.

Great display, and as predicted when I saw the team (ie no Brazilian Cunt), an easy win.

It's just a shame that our out-going manager has taken until the end of March in a truly disastrous season to realise what 99% of sentient humans knew from Day One:

1) Lucarse is fucking shit, and playing that cunt AND Masher as your CM partnership is the worst idea in football history.
2) You can't field a midfield with no pace or goal threat and win trophies in England
3) If you're too much of a shithouse to play Aquilani, then Gerrard has to play CM

[/quote]

and .....4) What I have been banging on about for long enough, having a round peg in a round hole on the right hand side. When we play without Dirk on the right we look a far more accomplished, slicker, well balanced side, particularly against mediocre opposition.
Thing is why play him behind Torres when you have two players on the bench who could do that job much better?
