Reina 8
Johnson 8
Carra 7
Agger 8
Insua 8
Masher 7
Gerrard 7
Maxi 7
Kuyt 5
Babel 6
Fernando 8

Sunderland are shit

Giving Kuyt a 5 give is an absolute joke, and just plain wrong.

Reina - 6

Carragher - 7
Agger - 7
Johnson - 8
Insua - 7

Masher - 7
Gerrard - 8
Kuyt - 8
Maxi - 7

Babel - 7

Torres - 8

I may get shot for this, cos those Torres goals were sublime, but he missed a lot of chances, so perhaps an 8 is a bit high.

We should have had 8 or 9 today.

Feel free to shoot me now.

I'm with George squiggs. He started brightly but after the 30 minute mark he went to shit IMO, and the 2nd half was a joke he must have give the ball away more than Torres, Maxi, Babel and Gerrard combined, he also had 3/4 opportunities to put a ball in and he skyed one, lost posession on another and ran the other way on one as well. That guy is the ultimate enigma.

I agree meself. Sublime goal tho

If a striker scores 2 goals and worked hard throughout, I think an 8 is perfectly reasonable.

Job done.

Reina 7 - Not much to do today, but he did, he did well
Johnson 8 - Coming back to his best again.
Carra 7 - Easy Game
Agger 7 - Easy Game
Insua 7 - Looked a bit more assured in possesion today, not tested.
Masher 7 - Could sit all day with not much to do.
Gerrard 8 - Steven Gerrard belongs back in Central Midfield and here was the evidence.
Maxi 8 - Played some great one touch football in the 1st half. I was pleasantly surprised with his performance today.
Kuyt 7 - Worked hard, typical Kuyt performance.
Babel 7 - Worked hard did the right things at the right times.
Fernando 9 - This boy is on fire right now. Class.

Giving Kuyt an 8 is an absolute joke, and just plain wrong. You do realise you're rating him higher than Masher and Maxi today?

He worked hard but was lacking quality again (that should be on his gravestone one day). A 6.5 tops.

A few points:

- Agger was a breath of fresh air the way he strolled out with the ball at times.
- Insua seemed to implement a bit of steel and confidence in his play today after his 'raping' last week. Encouraging again.
- We don't need Lucas and Masher at home to inferior sides. Stop doing it Rafa.
- Babel is slowly turning his career around here. I hope he gets into the Dutch World Cup squad and returns to Melwood buzzing.
- Maxi relishes from increased movement around him. When we play well we see the player in Maxi emerge. I like him.
- It is exciting to watch a fit Gerrard, Torres and Glenjo in full flight. Along with Babel it gives us pace throughout he pitch.

^^^^^^

EDIT: I know it should be a given, but i'm going to give Babel an extra 0.5 for effort today.

I thought we played 4-4-2 with Kuyt and Torres upfront. Babel clearly played on the left and swapped places with Torres occasionally for a give and go. Thats how i saw it at least.

Agree with the numbers in general. I would give 1 more for Agger and two more for Reina.

edit: i'm drunk
Babel would be so much more dangerous if he just used his left once in a while
definately.

That 5 score for Kuyt is a bit odd. Nobody deserved less than 6 today.

That said, 8 is too high.

Today Stevie G showed up. His setplays , an area of his game that can be quite ordinary at times, were quite spot on and dangerous.

Agger, Mascherano, Johnson and Gerrard were a joy to watch throughout. Maxi really impressed me. Torres with two totally different but utterly brilliant goals. Put a smile on my face which not many matches have this season. Sunderland didnt show up whatsoever, even the freekicks in dangerous places were just continously wasted.

because he has scored more goals as a forward then anywhere else in his career and bottom line; goals win games

I happen to think he is better as a foward then CM because he can do more damae further up the pitch, on top of that we have a 20 MILLION FUCKING POUND CM who should be playing in the middle of the park.

I thought Agger was absolutely superb today. If he'd have got a goal from one of his chances it would have been a nigh on perfect game from him.

Hang on Spidey, so Gerrard is a support striker, yet Aqua who can also play in the hole is only meant to be in the middle? If you think he's better in that role than CM then you want to go back and watch a few older games, he had 1 great year (Nando's 1st) where they just clicked, since then he has been average in that position (bar the odd game) and has always looked better when he's dropped deeper.

What about last season when Gerrard got his highest ever goal tally from that position?

Babel 6
Torres 9 motm.

Great display, and as predicted when I saw the team (ie no Brazilian Cunt), an easy win.
Why that fat cow-headed fuckwit didn't play Kenwyne Jones I have no idea, but they were shit.

It's just a shame that our out-going manager has taken until the end of March in a truly disastrous season to realise what 99% of sentient humans knew from Day One:

1) Lucarse is fucking shit, and playing that cunt AND Masher as your CM partnership is the worst idea in football history.
2) You can't field a midfield with no pace or goal threat and win trophies in England
3) If you're too much of a shithouse to play Aquilani, then Gerrard has to play CM

Reina (7). One fabulous save from The Weeble, and never looked like conceding

Magic (8.). A joy to watch. A goal, several really dangerous runs, a constant threat. Great stuff, from a great player.
Carra (7). Solid. Like a rock.
Agger (8.). Will never be anywhere near as good as Jocky, but fuck me, this was a pretty good impression
Insewer (6). Amazing. Positive, not nutmegged several times, and some great passing. Still needs shipping out, but good display today.

Gerrard (8.). Great delivery, great passing, Sunderland couldn't handle him at all.
Masher (7). Had little of his "smash everyone" job to do, and enjoyed trying - and failing - to score
Kuyt (7). A great first half indeed. Faded in the second, but was influential and effective
Maxi (7). Some lovely passing and touches, and an admirable amount of guile. Did well.
Babel (7). Seems to be realising that pure pace needs a bit of braisn and application allied to it. Did enough to stay in the team.

Torres (9). Two sublime goals, amazing effort, great skill, a joy to watch.
