Raheem Sterling

I suspect its because we need goals, and Morgan gets into the right positions.
Adorjan might not get us goals, but he might get our strikers going.
I like Morgan and I've watched a lot of reserve games of late, he misses too many chances.

Touchy!
Ok so when was the last game he started for the reserves?

I'm not being drawn into a new trolling exchange. There's enough to endure with the well-established trolls. I watch all the reserves and youth matches. I don't need to act as your guide on this. If you genuinely don't know how the various sides are structured and monitored, then go away and learn.

I don't think it's a case of one or the other.

Anyway it isn't the time for Adorjan. Our central midfield is soft as shit and we need a defensive midfielder badly. Adorjan doesn't have that quality and would offer even less protection than what we are currently getting for our centre backs.

He really needs Lucas behind him. This is what I meant when we discussed this before, and I was saying Suso and Sterling had a better chance of getting into the team. They can play out wide and there is slightly less pressure on them because we have good fullbacks......(don't).

Why Morgan Macca?
Why not Adorjan?

No, I'd like to see Adorjan as well, although, as with Suso, given the position he plays it'll be hard to just send him on for a few minutes, whereas someone like Morgan could take on a forward role very easily towards the end of a game. He's come through his first barren period and looks to be getting his old sharpness back.

Basically if you're putting in someone young, you want them wide or up front. Unless they're massive, they'll struggle at CB or CM.

I'd have thought that the ideal introduction for a young prospect is to give them the last 20 minutes in a home game against a modest team when we are leading by 2 goals. There wouldn't be any real pressure on them at that point and if they hardly contribute it probably won't make much difference. Any more than a 2 goal lead and there is no pressure at all and a single goal is too much of a risk.

Alas, a 2 goal lead at home is mostly a dream this season.

This trolling exchange as you call it was started by you criticising my first post . What I posted is a fact, Morgan has not played for the reserves since last November. So to suggest he should be on the bench for the first team is quiet a leap.

I am not asking you to act as my guide. I watch all the reserve games, the U19 Next Gen games and U18 games available to me so you can stop with your presumption that I don't know what I am talking about.

Also I agree with Modo he misses too many.

No it isn't, he played two days ago.

I haven't got access to the youth games but from the fixtures and competition point of view, the U18s play on Saturdays while Reserves play in midweek. They have also played more games than the Reserves. This is not taking into consideration the NextGen tournament and the England youth tournaments/games. The point of view that U18 to 1st team is a massive step is understandable on paper but don't think one can really judge simply base on age group. Robinson and Flanagan weren't Reserve team regulars, were they?

Desperate times calls for desperate measures.
Robinson was and still is the most highly rated defender in the reserves/youth team.

Yeah, so its not that inconceivable for someone like Morgan to be given a chance on the bench.

No, and more to the point neither is Sterling, if you're going to stick to the rigid notion of what the reserve team actually is (which I'm not doing). But the Next Gen tournament was used expressly as a way of bringing these players on rather than playing them too often against experienced and older league sides. The idea there's some rigid division between the two sets of players is just inaccurate. But I'm not responding to the wum any more, it's tiresome.

It was an impressive cameo considering that he was brought on in the wrong circumstances.
Hope he gets some game time against Newcastle this weekend but I doubt it.

Problem is, I don't think Morgo is half as highly rated as Robinson.

Well they're not playing in the same position, are they, so it's not much of a comparison. Robinson's more advanced in the pecking order, obviously, but it's clear we have a big problem with our attacking options and any potential amongst our young forwards is highly prized. I don't really see why a simple suggestion of having him and some others on the bench for the odd match has turned into such a elaborate discussion. I'm the last person to advocate just bunging them on.

From what I remember, previous to Robinson getting his first appearance, he wasn't mentioned much at all. That being said, defenders are generally mentioned less anyway.

Wouldn't mind a punt. Would be great to see more youngsters getting chances like Sterling did, between now till end of season - though I doubt it.

I don't think it's fair to call him a wum but I think he should be a bit humble when posting in a new forum.
I also think he has a point regarding the difference between the reserves and the next gen tournament.
If the next gen tournament was a reserve game, the likes of Jones, Ecclestone etc would have taken part in it. Considering that, they have to find replacements in the under age teams.
Anyway it's silly to argue about such trivial things.

So welcome to the forum "dakid", based on your first posts I bet you'll fit right in. This is not RAWK.

Noted Gerry_A_Trick. And the first line from the Tottenham Match report is - Liverpool U19s' dreams......
It is a underage tournament where players play against other underage players.
The reserves get to play against experienced players like the reserve game vs everton a few weeks ago.
If the next gen was truly the reseves coates and brad jones etc could play. But it is not it is an underage tournament.

The sad part about the whole Sterling affair is as soon as he threatened to leave he get's a chance with the first team. Same with Shelvey who has a hissy fit on twitter and then gets to play. Wonder what Eccleston did?
BTW Suso is injured he would have been with the Spanish u19 team otherwise. That's why he didn't take part in the next gen third place game.
