Did you see the press conference? It was shambolic. Their chairman kept talking about cheerfully how badly things had gone when Hughes was at QPR, even though he also kept saying it was 'just a blip'. He just couldn't stop mentioning it, whilst the sepulchral Hughes sat next to him looking even more nauseous than usual.
And yet the media constantly blast on about Pulis overachieving in finishing mid - table playing the worst kind of football imaginable?
The Stoke fans are apoplectic, similar in fact to how they were when Pulis was first appointed! They were about 17th in the Championship and appointed Pulis who had been manager there previously. They were almost unanimous in their condemnation of the appointemnt and all predicted doom and gloom - he got them into the Premier League.

As usual - I think it was the money that got them into the Premier League and up the table. Not Pulis.
Stoke is amongst the worst jobs possible for any manager - a shite squad after years of overspending. See : Liverpool after Rafa, Aston Villa after O'Neill.
I remember the season they got promoted Ross and I don't seem to remember them outspending their rivals. I'm not saying they didn't but it's not a factor that comes to mind when I think back.
