I'd nearly be tempted to start Origi as we looked a bit better with that type of presence upfront.
Sub Thiago off after 60 odd minutes. Manage the minutes of Mane and Salah as well.

i like the idea of him starting vs. Leeds but being taken off early if we’re ahead. He makes such a difference i think we need him to set the tone from the start.

I agree, but I do think winning a trophy, especially at this stage, can give a taste for success as we get to the business end of more prestigious competitions

Yep. I can get on board with that. Matip gets another rest. TAA, Fabs and Robbo have just had theirs. Hendo gets his. Jota & Bobby are getting theirs. Thiago, Mo and Mane are subbed off if all is well.

Yeah, I completely agree with this team and subs (and also tempted to start Origi). Elliott playing against Leeds will be emotional considering he got the big injury against them and won a lot of goodwill in their dressing room by sticking up for Strujik.

The boss is gonna be prioritising Sunday so expect a few deputies but in keeping with the characteristics to beat Leeds. I wouldn't be surprised to see Milner starting or first sub and Hendo playing the full 90. Robbo is a cert, to neutralise their right. If Jota can play either game then this is the one for him

I like @Brizzle’s mindset about this being the “biggest game of the season” - this is exactly how the team and the fans should approach it. This is our first chance to cut City’s lead to within striking distance - it’s a different kind of pressure, the pressure of an actual race. Leeds can be beaten, but they always put up a fight, they have quality and nothing is guaranteed.

I’m revising my selection to include Origi. I think with Thiago and Elliott in midfield and the gaps Leeds leave in their man-marking system we won’t have a problem with build-up, which is Origi’s weakness - but we do need finishing and presence up front. Bring Mane on for the last half an hour to keep his sharpness before Sunday and maybe at some point move Diaz to the middle as an experiment.

Yeah, thought about that yesterday. Horrendous conditions, depleted squad with injuries and shorter recovery time than us.
Not always the case but could be a factor in the 2nd half.
