Jones is the problem really, he's not all that, he leaves gaps all over the place and lacks tactical discipline. Ox was ok, but would be better with the added protection of Fabinho. Hendo plus Fabs and a more attacking option is good balance. Jones is just throwing the whole thing off balance, he's a bit of a non-entity, not attacking enough, not defensive enough and struts around thinking he's made it.

Ox and Jones can’t play together. I think that was the biggest issue 2nd half. In hindsight, Morgan would have been the right sub for Keita and Jones would have known his job.

Jones AOC not good enough.

Trent defensively definitely not good enough, don't know how many more examples one needs.

Firmino hasn't been good enough for years, a tap in hattrick against a championship side doesn't change that.

Trent is good defensively with a proper holding midfielder and a decent midfielder on his side - Hendo, Keita, Gini.

Getting both Fabs and Thiago will have a huge impact.

Lets not get to overboard with negativity though, just a week ago we smashed Utd 5-0 at Old Trafford.
We go again in the next game.

Reminds me of Palace last year.

We smash them 7-0.

But you just knew it was a one off.

When everyone is fit, we are great.

The moment, one or two (Fab/Thiago) are not there, we look vulnerable.

In the end 2-2 was actually a good result for us, considering how we played and the chances they had.

Shit happens, we are going to get bad results, and you hope the players learn from it.
The bigger concern is our injury crisis - that's far more concerning. Most of us said the squad lacked depth, yet the board failed again to back the manager.

Paying for not replacing Gini…

A Couple of injuries and our midfield is non existent. Bissouma coming back from injury was the best midfielder in the pitch even though not fully fit and only lasting 60 mins - and he was definitely available all summer for a reasonable fee.

Massive 2 points dropped

Its definitely 2 points dropped but not massive.

Were 3 points off chelsea agree 10 games and they've basically been perfect defensively...

Got to question where the fuck he's going.

That is a very Liverpool goal. Alison pinpoints the clearance to Mané, pass to advancing midfielder, through to Firmino, Jota or Salah. Goal.

Why the hell did Robbo give him the chance to cut inside, though? That was the easier side to shut down covering across.

I was there today we lost it in midfield and to be honest we missed matip.

Today reminded me of the palace game the 3 nil flattered us if they had taken their chances that day they would have scored 2 at least.

As someone said before stay calm and we go again.

Klopp did sound the warning about the Man U result. We offered them chances but we were more ruthless in front of goal. And he didn’t sound happy today that the warning wasn’t heeded.

The word down here is that he won't go anywhere. Six years at his last place, 6 year contract at Brighton. Seems like a genuine bloke, more into taking his club somewhere rather than making loads of money.

He’s exactly what Newcastle, Spurs or Utd need right now.

Hope he stays there.

Not sure why he waited til the Utd game to give that warning, we've been wide open at the back for much of this season. We've thrown away a lead numerous times already..

On another note I thought Konate was dreadful. His tendency to charge out of position for a ball he can't win and leave a massive gap behind him is Lovrenesque. But the midfield is paper thin, Hendo, Jones and Ox barely put a tackle in between them

That second half was a fuckin disgrace. Brighton looked more like getting a third than we did. Have to give them credit of course, but we caused our own downfall yesterday. Midfied got torn to shreds and Henderson might as well been playing by himself. Wasn't overly impressed by Konate either.

That's 4 draws from 10 League games and draws kill title challenges. 3 of those 4 we've had leads and let them go which is even more worrying.

Indeed, those Brentford and now Brighton draws are 4 points we really could do with at the end of the season.

We have one player who can play DM and about 7 who can play CM/AM. Should be easily solved, either by promoting Morton or by buying a DM. Without Fabs we fall apart almost without fail.

The promising thing is we are being linked with quality DMs ( Tchouameni and Gravenberch) i don't expect we'll get one before the summer though.

From all the scouting reports I've read, Morton prefers to be a Keita box to box type midfielder.

I was impressed with Mortons discipline versus Preston, would have been happy if he started yesterday. Madrid game is a bit of a free hit, but it's probably too much to throw him in for me.

I should start the next match thread for our next home game in the league.
Fucking Brizzle and his draws.

I think he was responding to a specific question— there was plenty of hysteria over the Man U result which masked some worrying weaknesses which, as you say, extended to earlier games.

I must agree that Konaté plays like he’s in France (as did Lovrén.)

Can we get Trent off dead ball duties?

They have been terrible for a long time now. I can't even remember when was the last Trent dead ball we scored from.
