O Captain, My Captain! Gerrard has been the very definition of so far. Full credit goes to Toure's god-man presence, of course.

Gerrard's still not that good at geeing up his teammates, but he's excellent at intervening with the ref and putting the opponents in their place. Yesterday's little clash with RVP and Giggs was superb.

Yeah 'you're a fucking prick' seemed to be the message RvP needed to hear.

It's a big turn around from him, because when he was first made captain it was my major problem with it, he rarely, if ever got involved except when it was about him. Now he's usually one of the first there, & is very vocal.

I would like to see him constantly in the refs ear though, Ferdinand & giggs (also previously scholes) do it extremely well, joking & smiling at them when they get decisions & having a word saying they got it wrong when it goes against them.

It works, & Stevie does it a bit now, but could do it more, & other players could do it too.

I dont know if its been mentioned, but Cleverleys challenge on Coutinho was assault and really could have broken his leg. It was all day long a straight red.
Disgusting challenge.

I mentioned that there easily could have been 3 reds in the 1st half

- agger (no one caught it from the officiating crew) elbowing van perise ... he loves going after cunts, god bless him
- cleverly's tackle, as i mentioned in the match thread, was from behind and intentional ... how he escaped red, i don't know. "oh he didn't kick the ball out" ... fuck off you cunt.
- rvp's stamp on agger ... again, intentional and in full view of the refs ... we really got into his head the cunt.
