Like I've said before plenty of defenders do that. Its just a media agenda IMO.
Why not focus on Terry and Vidic and see how often they do the same.

Exactly. I wouldn't dream of excusing Skrtel, but as you say, if you penalise it, then penalise every case, not just the one person Owen and Co have been saying 'Go on, do him, go on!' I think the ref was so keen to give a pen he choose the softest instance out of impatience.

Today's issues started, continued, and ended with Gerrard in DM. He was not only utterly fucking useless, but looked barely half-interested for the entire 90 minutes.

I'm not fan of Agger, but he was left hopelessly exposed by that wandering indulgence Gerrard who was supposed to be guarding in front of him.

We got lucky today, real lucky.

I tend to agree. It was just incredible how easily they found promising positions right on the edge of our box.

Its crazy how the media mould peoples minds and thoughts, not just on this but on everything, we all fall for it to some extent whether we like it or not, the real scary thing is the amount of people that are totally oblivious to it all.

Same here, it was a relief to see Shelvey go off though tbh it doesn't really matter who the player is, with that sort of wide open space available then any player can punish us.

This. It opened us way up against their forward movements. He is either too deep or too left or too far up, or jogging around too much. Thing is, he wasn't this way against Everton or arsenal. Hence, the dilemma. Game changer when he wants, passenger (other than a few sharp forward long passes) otherwise.

haha. I stopped watching the match at 3-3. and that's what I based what I wrote above. I am sure the rest of the match was exactly the same

WTF sort of supporter are you to switch over to anything in a match of that importance (and excitement) ?! That's unreal.

Allen is pushing for a centre mid start, sometimes fitting Suarez/Sturridge/Sterling/Coutinho in the same side leaves us too top heavy.

I don't feel comfortable with Agger in the side anymore.

I don't feel comfortable with Agger OR Skrtel ! We've been saying for weeks how Skrtel's constant fouling and shirt pulling in the box is going to cost us a penalty (or more) and that we can only pray we get away with it when it happens - well one saved one to go this season would be my bet. The rest of his game was shite too.

Our biggest problem at the back is communication. The one player who sorted that out retired last summer.
We need a new CB to play next to Sakho imho.
Skrtel is good but I see him as a squad player in the future.
We need a dominant and vocal CB.

Agger will leave.

This in a nutshell. MIng needs to buck up too - is he superglued to his line or something ? He needs to become far more dominant in the 6-10 yard area.

Goals here: http://goal.lfc.vn/liverpool-swansea-hd-s14-w27/

Watching their second goal again makes me mad and want to kick something. It starts with Johnson actually, as he has eyes and hands on Bony at the start of the sequence. Agger is covering Ashley Williams. Just before the kick's taken, Bony starts making his move, moving inwards to where Agger is watching while Williams starts to move outwards; basically they move in opposite directions, interchanging their starting positions.

Here's where it breaks down for us, as Johnson seems to be playing zone and Agger seems to be playing man-to-man; Johnson hangs back to cover Williams, thinking he's handed over to Agger, while Agger follows Williams instead of covering Bony, despite Bony clearly being in his peripheral vision when he moved into his zone. And then he's still running to the back when the ball's clearly going to end short in the space vacated by him. End result, two guys on Williams, none on Bony, free header, and Skrtel is luckless to get the last touch. Maybe you could blame Skrtel for playing everyone onside when he was guarding his man as the kick was taken, but still, the more fundamental problem is what happened between Johnson and Agger there.

As for the first goal, Henderson is clearly not doing this job there - he should be the one to pick up Shelvey in that scenario but he was so deep in our own box marking air that there was no chance for him to recover once Dyer had laid off the ball. Gerrard's actually blameless in that goal as he was picking up and guarding against Dyer dribbling into the box.

This is not to absolve Gerrard and Skrtel from for our WTF defence yesterday, mind - they were as bad as everyone else in that department. Those two goals though, ironically, had little to do with them IMO.

We could well have Sakho-Ilori as our CB pairing next season.

I'd really like to see Ilori more if that is to be the case, bringing him on for time when we are in a comfortable position - I don't for one second imagine that we won't be buying a starter CB in the Summer though.

Speaking of Ilori - he didn't even make the matchday squad against Valencia, after seeming to have played well in both his starts in the two previous games. This after Granada were reported to be interested in taking Ilori on loan for a full season, or making his move permanent. Bleah.

I agree with this.
