No, I'm not happy with our defence nor the bi-polar midfield but the team as a whole is winning, grinding out wins when we don't deserve it. When we do play well, it's awesome but we can't realistically play like that in every game. So when we get 3 points and played poorly, it means the team fights for everything and that's a positive.

Yeah, last season we barely ever won when not playing well, West Ham 3-2 away was one and there was one other game i think, can't remember which one.

It is a big positive this season that we can get a positive result when not playing well, its still ridiculous how abysmal we can be at the back though, as you say we won't get away with it all the time, we really need to sort our shit out back there.

100% yes.

It was very similar to Villa, wide open gaping holes, this is why its hard to be totally convinced by Gerrard playing in the role he is.

Its strange, i mean you would think the better quality teams would punish us badly with that type space afforded to them but we have tonked the best teams to come to Anfield so far, still can't help be more than a bit worried what Chelsea and City might do to us though it wouldn't suprise if we smashed either of them.

Personally i would bring Allen in for those games but again its a shit situation to have to drop Coutinho or Sterling.

Yes, I'm not the best at watching the dm game, so I was wondering. It seems we gain so much in His distribution but he could be so easily over run.

If you don't watch the game, then I suggest you don't make dramatic bold statements about us getting 4th or even winning it.
sorry RM. I will make any bold statement that I like. if you don't like what I write, then I suggest you ignore and don't read it. I don't need smartarses like you to tell me what I can and cant do. thanks you very much.

It is a little emphatic @phantomjoy - let's give our young team a chance to grow. Everyone knows we are underdogs, and chihuahuas, but let's accentuate the positives as well as negatives... We need to be as hard on other teams failings if you are going to dwell on our own. city are no oil painting, and not a dead cert for anything.

I'm happy with the win but I'm not at all convinced that we can beat Southampton away.

Problem is that to me our problems are fundamental, not sporadic as a result of indifferent form. Frequently we look to have absolutely gaping holes in midfield, no protection for the back 4, and then a shambolic defence once teams inevitably attack it. We're also totally reliant on 2 or 3 players in attack, when all our rivals have 8 or 9. The pressure and strain on them is bound to tell in the final couple of months.

We're a good team - excellent on our day - but we'll need a miracle to win the league IMO.

Spot on assessment add a dodgy keeper to the list.

However sometimes miracles do happen ! 11 games to go and after the last two games maybe just maybe something special might happen. I'm enjoying the ride!

haha. SL. my Achilles heel that grammar lark.

Everyone acknowledges your right to be dramatic and bold, but you've got to take it when it gets challenged. That Winter Olympics thing makes a Puritan unsure if you were watching Skrtel or some Slovakian figure skater, 🙂

It was a suggestion; I wasn't telling you to do anything.

Massive communication issues between the keeper and CB's. No one seems to be talking to each other, or organising, leading to indecision and uncertainty. This is where we look most vulnerable. If Carragher is there to take control, most of the problems don't even start. That's why I think he brought Kolo on, as he does try to organise in between dropping clangers!!

Granted Localny I am only accentuating our negatives. this is because we are so close to achieving something that I doubt most of our fans thought we could achieve i.e. top 4. I do like how we are grinding out points when playing so poorly but we wont get away with that all the time and spurs just wont away and you can only write off the scums at your peril.

We looked so sloppy in midfield and defence. Allen came on and did a brilliant job imo. Great sub by Brendan.

Yep, along with him having a better chance at getting to grips with Bony, Bony is the stereotypical striker we struggle against the most, il'd rather we were defending against Aguero than Benteke and Bony types.

I do fear the team intimidated itself with that first half against Arsenal. They now have to get through that sense of apprehension and get used to that kind of intensity. Sturridge and Suarez and Sterling are superb, but Coutinho really needs to wake up - if he wants to play in the World Cup this summer he needs to start when the whistle goes off in every game, not after about half an hour. His basic stats are good but they don't tell the whole story. He's far too quiet against teams he ought to be bossing from the first minute. And as for the defence, well, it's a shambles. Loads of work on the training pitch is needed.

hahahaha. Localny, the Slovakian figure skater give me palpitations of a more pleasurable manner. haha
