Ilori has the potential to become the classiest CB we've had since Hansen. Sakho would fight battles for him like Lawrenson did for Hansen, except that Lawro was the best tackler inside the penalty box I've ever seen and Sakho would scare me to death tackling inside the box. He's the one who needs the most work. Ilori is just going to gradually become better and better.
I am excited to see ilori get a chance for us. Seems like an eternity ago when we had a young cb worth getting excited about.

Ah now I am sure Man U fans debated their defense this much when going ahead four different times In a game. No they didn't, I was all, "Fergie's thrown the kitchen sink at them again, what a great manager"

You'd have to ask those saddoes who spend time on redcafe. I have absolutely no idea how mancs used to react. I'm surprised you do.

Ah Macca, don't throw me to the wolves like that you bold boy. I'm just speculating like saying, in North Korea, there's a lot of depression, or in Hollywood there a lot of sex - never been there, but it's easy to speculate..

The Granada chairman said some very complimentary things about him yesterday. Started 2 games now, and will start again against Valencia today. Hopefully, that experience brings him into first team consideration for us next season.

Oh, he looks absolutely excellent for them, but struggled in our reserves because he's weak in the air and pretty skinny. I think he'll be great once he gets those faults addressed.

Still seems a little naive in certain situations, from watching his Granada game. But he certainly seems to be calm in most situations.

It would be astonishing if he DIDN'T still seem a bit naive, given his age and what little senior football he's played. That's surely why he's out on loan. The point is he's going to learn, improve and mature.

On this occasion I don't think that's much more than a lazy comparison. In seasons gone by we'd have never have surrendered the lead three times against such a side. It was just sloppy. No need to allude to any earlier season. It was sloppy plain and simple.

Yes it was sloppy and horrible tense when the game was 3-3. Just dont think we would have gone onto get the 4th goal and see the game out

Just finished watching on DVR. Great win, I'll take 3 every single day.

We had a lot of trouble with their pressing because Gerrard was sitting so far back that there was too large of a gap between our center backs and Henderson or Coutinho. That and Stevie didn't really do much beyond jog around and pass backwards. Since when did our players become afraid to turn or play forward out of the back? Everything was constantly backward backward backward.

Pass backwards? Really?

Did you see our fourth goal?

I think its the other way around. We've made 4 mistakes in the last 2 league games and Ming doesnt know whats coming.

I think it's six of one, half a dozen of the other. The fact he's so scattered when the ball is played back to him, clearly doesn't help. Reina's sweeping ability allowed the defenders to push on 5-10 yards knowing that Reina would be straight off his line to clear anything. We drop back now and it breeds anxiety and discomfort. Add that Rodgers is clearly instructing us to play our way out of trouble, instead of getting rid (God I used to hate the hoof-critics), we're our own worst enemies.

Reina does not seem to be having the best time in Italy, but on paper he has all the attributes to suit Brendan's style of play - great on the ball, quick off his line and fantastic distribution.

We seem to do the other team's attacks for them. They all know now that we have this strange compulsion to sometimes get the ball deep in their half and then pass it all the way back into our own half, so naturally they follow it and win the ball whilst we're faffing aimlessly around in front of our own penalty area. Hendo's bizarre diagonal punt towards the corner flag was merely the most egregious of several occasions. I don't know why we do it. Okay, yes, I know it's supposedly about hanging on to possession when options are shut down in the opposition half, but I cannot believe even a short sideways pass isn't on instead of that slow uncoiling of a whole attack. And usually, we DON'T hang on to the ball, because, after all of that backward passing, Mignolet usually then punts it straight back from whence it came, except to one of the opposition players, so all we've done is lose possession via the most circuitous route possible. We might as well just kick the ball into touch near their corner flag if we really are so lacking in movement and guile during attacks. It's the one aspect of our otherwise very attractive style of play that drives me crazy.

As Macca says, the whole play it out from the back thing just doesn't work.
Our back 5 aren't comfortable on the ball to make it work and the midfield were pretty static today. Gerrard was dropping deep but then it leaves a gaping hole. Swansea just pressed to a degree and then wait for us to fuck it up with a sloppy touch and then we are under pressure.

We must the only team who create more chances for the opposition than they create for themselves.

We'd be as well playing it out from the back but then sliding it down the channels for Sterling and Sturridge and get their back 4 turning on their heels. We'll prob concede possession but at least it'll be in the oppo's final third rather than our own. Plus, there's a greater possibility we might get a chance out of it than trying to pass our way through their whole team.

These next few games are funny as we are all saying "I think think our defence will cope away at Southampton or United" and United and Southampton are definitely thinking "I don't think our defence will cope with Liverpool visiting".

I'm excited. We're getting deeper and deeper into the season and are still in the thick of it. Really not good for our nerves, and I just hope we make a change at the back that gets us in shape!

The Liverpool manager was delighted with the pair as they both scored a brace to give their side the edge in a thrilling 4-3 victory over Swansea at Anfield on Sunday
Brendan Rodgers lavished praise on Daniel Sturridge and Jordan Henderson after both scored twice inLiverpool's 4-3 win over Swansea City on Sunday.
There were five first-half goals in a thrilling game at Anfield on Sunday, with Sturridge breaking the deadlock to become only the second player in history to score in eight consecutive Premier League games.
The England striker netted again before the interval, but it was Henderson - scorer of a first-half stunner - who took centre stage to grab the winner 16 minutes from time - and Rodgers offered a glowing appraisal of the goalscoring duo.

LIVERPOOL LATEST

"He showed great leadership, Jordan," the Northern Irishman said. "You could see him driving the team on. His first goal was an outstanding goal.

"We've spoken to him about getting up there - in training his finishing is sublime, he works at it. But what's really pleasing for me is the second goal because we've been speaking to him about getting in the box, he's got the legs and energy to do that.
"The thing I say to those midfield players, the advanced ones, is 'can you get in that six-yard box?'
"People talking about getting in the box, I always try to get them to get into the six-yard box and that's where his goal has come from. That was a really important goal for us."
On Sturridge, who has 18 league goals this season following a cool run and finish and a close-range header, Rodgers added: "He's a natural goalscorer, great pace - a wonderful pass by young Raheem [Sterling] that gave us the first goal, and a wonderful finish.
"And the second one is an area of his game that he's been looking to improve; it was a lovely ball by Luis [Suarez] and he's finished it really well with the header.
"He just looks like he can score every game, he's got that ability, that quality."
Liverpool are now the leading scorers in the Premier League with 70 goals, but Rodgers admitted that his side have work to do defensively.
"Up until now we've got away with it," he said. "The problem is it's not coaching. Some of the situations that we concede goals in, you can't coach that.
"There's a feeling in a game of how to defend and you have to use that experience to be able to defend properly."

You have to say, Rodger's does a marvellous job of taking credit for the good things about our game, and an equally good job of absolving himself of any responsibility for anything that isn't so good. And all with the veneer of "it's all about the players".

Made hard work of it. Obviously our defence is a serious issue. We need Enrique and Sakho back. We were weak in the middle at times too. As Macca said, we do a lot of the other team's attacking for them.

Having said that, there were a lot of positives today. Henderson was fantastic. He's turning himself into a Kop legend. I was very impressed with Joe Allen. Maybe it's because it's the first time I've seen him playing in the flesh, but he worked his arse off today. His passing was top class. Maybe he's a lot better than I give him credit for. It's amazing how differently you can view a player when you're watching from the stand.

I was surprised by some of the substitutions. Particularly Sterling.

Yeah, Rodgers never takes any blame when things go wrong:

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has taken the blame for Sunday's defeat to Hull, describing the 3-1 loss at the KC Stadium as the result of "an off day."

Jake Livermore's deflected shot gave Hull the lead before Liverpool skipper Steven Gerrard scored from a free-kick to make it 1-1 at the break.

But David Meyler gave the home side the lead again and Martin Skrtel put through his own net to give Steve Bruce's side their first ever win against the Merseysiders.

"In the main, our form has been very good so I can't criticise the players too much," said Rodgers.

"If there's anyone to blame, blame me as manager. Ultimately it is down to the manager.

"The players have been brilliant over the course of the season, we just had an off day.

"We made mistakes with the goals but we go into two home games and that is what we will focus on."

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has accepted responsibility for his side's 2-2 draw with Aston Villa at Anfield this afternoon.

Rodgers opted for an attacking team selection, leaving Lucas Leiva on the bench to accommodate Daniel Sturridge and Luis Suarez up front.

Villa took full advantage of their extra man in midfield, racing into a two-goal lead before Sturridge pulled a goal back on the stroke of half time, and Steven Gerrard scored from the spot to rescue a point for the Reds after Rodgers had switched tactics at the break.

"I go with my gut feeling. I thought it was an offensive team. I have played that before. If you want to blame me, blame me," PA quotes Rodgers as saying.

"It is a good point. I don't think we were anywhere near our level in the first half, give credit to Villa for that. The front two was a real threat for us and tactically we had to change it."

Cunts saying Skrtel should've got a second yellow. But yet they failed to analyse the penalty Suarez should've won.
