Seriously, it's a bit sad if a moderator keeps going on these bitter rants against his chosen enemies. It's not how the role is supposed to work.

Oh Christ, Macca. I've taken exception to peoples opinion and you don't like it? How many times do you do the same? Seriously mate, if that's the way people feel I'll log off for the last time today, I can't be arsed if people want to give me shit for being passionate about the club, it's banter, it's discussion, it gets heated sometimes, so what?

I think I'm pretty fair most of the time, I get into spats sometimes, I'm not the only one and at least when the dust settles I'll usually say, fair enough or whatever. If you feel you of all people have to ignore me, over a differing of opinion, then I'm done, I've asked enough people to come back here when they've been dismayed similarly, but if that's the way people feel, then I'll go.

I'm not a mod. If I was a mod I'd try to avoid getting too involved. Seriously. You're not doing the job properly.

(And this 'being passionate about the club' thing: once again, you don't respect other's passion, because they're not passionate about the same argument, so, over and over and over again, you denounce them and suggest that their motives aren't as pure as your own.)

The job of a mod is to moderate the forums, is posting as a poster not exclusive to that? So basically, I can't have a differing opinion or be passionate about certain subjects, because I'm a mod? I've banned one poster in how ever many years, that's how "too involved" I get.

I can't see this debate dying off until after the Chelsea game. The team selection for the Chelsea game will make this debate relevant again. Which is a pity, as it will only act as a sideshow and a distraction to a big game against the league leaders.

I think you'd be a good mod.

It's interesting watching the debate on here and then going to listen to some podcasts. I'm listening to the one with Dave Thompson (ex LFC) and Graeme Kelly and reading Phil Thompson's comments too ..... these guys were not disgusted at the line-up, generally agreeing with it, and were actually pleased with our performance, but not the result of course. There is no slagging off BR and they agree with Gerrard not playing .... 7 games in 21 days and 3 in one week being quoted as too much for a 34 year old.

Nice counterpoint to the outrage on here.

No, it's knowing when to pull back. We're all mods of ourselves, of course, but the existence of actual forum mods is a sign that not enough of us are good enough at modding ourselves. So when you become a mod you have the onerous task of balancing the inclinations of a normal poster with the duties of a mod. And that means mods have to try to set an example, otherwise, when they do intervene, all one needs to do is point out how they, too, called others names, questioned their motives, traded insults and got involved in long, emotional and increasingly personal spats.

Mods on here are pretty useless.

A few people on here get abuse, sometimes over for no apparent reason, and nothing's been done about it 'cos any posters not in 'the clique' do not warrant a fair trial/treatment.

Oh right, it's banter. Sorry, I had forgotten.

At the end of the day, everyone's a self-righteous git. Let's just admit it and get on with it.

The whole ethos of this place is about not over policing. part of the reason for sacking off koptalk was the mods who got power hungry and would step in to any argument/ heated debate and place bans. Its an internet forum FFS - mild abuse should warrant a ban. Those who continuously fuck up threads for no reason generally get booted but in some cases it is just part of the furniture e.g. skully.

You'll also notice most people who get some abuse don't even make a big deal about it.. you know why? They aren't massive fucking pussies.

Yes, the last thing we need is DJ Sydney, and I speak from personal experience. But if there ARE mods, then they have a responsibility to act like a mod. That doesn't mean over-policing. It just means making a little more effort than the rest of us do to keep a sense of perspective and a slightly calmer disposition. I'm serious about this, it isn't a wind up of anyone. We, in turn, need to appreciate the job they do.

This place really goes into full meltdown after poor results.

I can imagine life in the trenches with you lot, one stray mortar and you would all start bayoneting each other.

Lest we forget.

It would be like that, but with less running away and more shouting "that was your fucking fault" at each other.

Followed by, 'You don't want to win this war as much as I do!' And then Modo will arrive to launch a debate about how overrated Clausewitz is.

Mate, your major virtue is admitting wrong when you are and for that I don't mind you going off occasionally.

That being said, I've no clue what the debate is here.
