Toure, Can, Lucas and Lallana all did pretty well, the fullbacks are both hugely promising players but, understandably, have alot to learn. To say that players won't take anything from games like that is ridiculous, how can you not learn from playing against the best players in the World at the highest level?
It was plucky and ultimately we still lost, fair enough, people just seem to conveniently be sweeping the performance two weeks ago in comparison, under the carpet. It's not just that performance though is it? It's West Ham, Newcastle, Basle, City, Hull, etc. Our best "team" on paper isn't always great in reality, we need to move forward and know we have alternatives we can trust and we have ways and means of setting up differently and where we can make ourselves stronger with our current staff, both in what we have and what we need to buy.
It's been a shit start to the season, but it felt like people just didn't want to be proven wrong that we just might perform as well (or certainly no worse), without the "star" players.
