Post-match Madrid Talk

I'm more interested in seeing changes to what he considers to be his best team, than in what he puts out in a game he has largely written off.

There were some people who played well and were game. Let's see what that wins them.

We played a lot better than we have done but until we can get a striker that can score goals we aren't gonna be the best at anything

It was an embarrassing first half in which a barely bothered Real Madrid cruised to a victory. Thankfully that didn't continue into the second half and we showed a bit more composure.

In terms of positives to take away from the game, well, the score line is one I suppose given what happened at Anfield. Ming played well so hopefully he'll take some confidence from that.

Has anyone done enough to take the spot of the players "rested"?

Kolo?

I think they all did except maybe markovich.

How dare Brendan make changes to his high flying Liverpool team...HOW DARE HE!!!!!

Well in Redmen, spirited display.

One more attempt before someone has to take you to the vet: if your first team is shit, there's nothing clever in swapping it with reserves who raise their game to be just about as shit. It just means that shit runs through the squad, and you don't know what a good first team is. If you find that worthy of a smirk, congratulations, but don't kid yourself you've thought it through with any coherence.

it's the first time in living memory as a liverpool fan, I've been relieved with a 1-0 defeat. That's worrying.

KOLO, MAN OF THE MATCH, KOLO KOLO MAN OF THE MATCH

you're a bunch of weird feckers here, we play like shite and everyones sunshines and lollipops then we unfortunately lose but look pretty fucking good, especially in defence, and people are hanging from the rafters

Lallanas "pressing"/defending is ridicilous. He runs full speed ahead...and gets rounded. Every. Single. Time.

Like watching a training session.

Good effort by them but felt like lambs to the slaughter.

Feel sorry for players - both those who started and those who deserved to play

Its defeat number 7.
Its the 4th November.

I cant see much to be positive about.
Without Suarez and Sturridge we are a bang average team and the 110m Mr Rodgers threw at it has if anything made it worse.

I'm not happy with the result but we didn't look clueless in midfield and that's progress I guess.

it's the same old shite. lallana is good but why spend 50 mill on him and wankobitch? just walk around slamming 50 mill on the table everywhere and buy someone dead good.

Toure, Can, Lucas and Lallana all did pretty well, the fullbacks are both hugely promising players but, understandably, have alot to learn. To say that players won't take anything from games like that is ridiculous, how can you not learn from playing against the best players in the World at the highest level?

It was plucky and ultimately we still lost, fair enough, people just seem to conveniently be sweeping the performance two weeks ago in comparison, under the carpet. It's not just that performance though is it? It's West Ham, Newcastle, Basle, City, Hull, etc. Our best "team" on paper isn't always great in reality, we need to move forward and know we have alternatives we can trust and we have ways and means of setting up differently and where we can make ourselves stronger with our current staff, both in what we have and what we need to buy.

It's been a shit start to the season, but it felt like people just didn't want to be proven wrong that we just might perform as well (or certainly no worse), without the "star" players.

Does anyone have an idea how we are trying to play? Pressing and possession like last season?
