Cracking win.

Annoyingly wasteful in the second half though.

Defence held up well although Cissokho is possibly the worst player we've had.

Is it out of the realms of possibility for us to sign Barkley?

Massive result today.

WIth a bit of luck tomorrow we'll have a little gap to 5th place and reduce the gap to the top.

Coutinho MOTM, great performances all round. Sturridge great goals, but he cost us two goals towards the end, his attitude stinks a little at times, I'm being very harsh there though.

5 points off first place lads. And yet again, Rodgers team bounces back from a disappointment quickly. Very encouraging indeed.

Great result.

Sturridge was cool as you like for his two goals then hits a crap penalty.

Weirdo.

Rodgers got this one brilliantly.

I was worried for the midfield as Everton's was better than ours on paper.

But Rodgers had us playing three lines of two I think - Gerrard & Henderson, Sturridge & Coutinho and Suarez & Sterling. Sturridge deep was very very good, as both he and Coutinho are incredible on the ball. Silky touch and very difficult to dispossess.

Nah.. He is just behaving like any good striker does... wouldn't have it any other way...

The lad just wants to score goals.. He will learn from that and come back stronger

Sterling to me was incredible - I just can't believe how much he's grown in the last few months. He is so dangerous going forward, and his work rate in helping defensively is at such high levels right now. We basically made Baines an average LB, when he's one of the best in the league.

Coutinho - his touch was brilliant tonight, though he took a wee few risks that were unnecessary in the defensive half. His work rate and help defensively was also excellent. If he can get back into the form of last year, we will be unplayable.

Studge - 2 excellent finishes. Should have finished with 4. I hope his spat with Suarez won't affect their game on the pitch, as even though he was getting defensive, yes - he was being selfish. Good performance mind.

Suarez - not on his game really, but a brilliant run and finish and could have had more.

Henderson also put in an excellent shift.

Nice to have Flanno back, and SKittles and Toure were solid (a bit jittery at times but hey a clean sheet is nice).

Sturridge can possibly becomie world class - he just needs a little bit more ruthlessness, still a sense he plays within himself. Incredible talent.

Cissokho was diabolical. Flanno was fantastic.

Barkley is on the brink of greatness.

Counter attacking football is very risky in light of how leaky our defence is it worked today and I was very surprised. our possession style was no evident - martinez possession obsession probably took a dent with Brendan demonstrating more tactical variety.

Uhm, draw probably. I don't know. We can't win the title. Its probably best if Spurs get thrashed.

Great stuff, devasting on the counter attack, for all the possession they had we defended well. I haven't watched much live football recently, so thought the comments about cissohko may be over the top, but he is horrendous. Michael Owen is also a terrible commentator, talks absolute bollocks. Coutinho was so good, always looking for the ball running into space. When Alberto came on, he just run forward, never looking for space in the way coutinho does. All in all, happy days.

The most encouraging thing for me was seeing Coutinho up his game and produce a performance to be proud of. It's been a while and we need him.

Also, somewhere in the midst of the chaos Cissokho calls a performance, he actually managed to put in a few good tackles. Whatever next!

Weirdly, I don't think we even played that well. It wasn't like the Spurs game where we just utterly destroyed them in every respect. We worked really hard, Everton played into our hands and thankfully we were fairly ruthless at making them pay.

Hope that there is nothing to the Sturridge shenanigans towards the end...

If Stevie can play the deep lying role that well in every game then he'll be superb alongside a DM. I think Everton badly missed Coleman and Distin today. Their defence was poor.

Gerrard and Skrtl were superb, as was Sturridge in that first half.
Sterling and Coutinho were excellent throughout, and everyone else played really really well.
Oh, and Cissokho wasn't half as terrible as he actually is.

That was a great way to set the tone and system that will welcome all the title pretenders over the coming weeks.

A brilliant result for Rodgers. I quite liked him putting Studge in his place, too, even though I would've been happy enough to see him keep going in the greed groove.

Gerrard isn't usually a good captain for me but when he's really fired up like tonight he's magnificent as a leader. He was absolutely magnificent.

Skrtel was a phenomenon.

Sterling worked his nuts off, Coutinho was better than for a while, Toure always made me relax when he had the ball, Suarez was incredibly industrious and deserved that goal, Flanno was nice and solid.

All in all, a great performance.

Definitely want Spurs to get battered.

It'd be nice to think we could challenge for the title but the fears about 4th are not gone yet just because we got a great result tonight. It'd be great to put a bit of distance between us and a couple of the others, particularly given the fact that Utd will come back into it now.
