I am in the camp of resting players for this game – we need to use any possible advantage before the United game and having fresher key players could help us in that game and further down the road as well. Besides we have a few squad players who very much deserve a run out.

9+6 is 15 isn't it?
You can't go into every game scared our players will get injured, the players have played two games in about four weeks, and this game will be an easy one for them considering the lead we have, there's no reason to rest them all unless the doctor advises us to. Some sensible rotation yes, but lets not line up to lose or draw, momentum is very important right now, we don't want to be going into the game against United after an insipid performance midweek, we want to be going into the United game with everyone talk about just how dangerous we are.How much is momentum going to help if one or two of our top players carry injuries into the United game and can't play ?
This tie is done. We could put our youth team out and not lose by 5 goals. Play a steady backline (no VvD or Robertson though) and midfield and rest the front three. We likely won't lose but even if we do it won't be by much (odd goal).
And momentum means SFA to any of these players, they will know it's a reserve/rested lineup and know that the only game in town this week is at Old Trafford at the weekend. That is where we need our strongest team, not risking our stars on a freezing cold midweek night at Anfield which is just perfect for tweaking thigh muscles.
Man United will have to think about us and Savilla, it would be interesting to see which Maureen prioritises.

We’re a team that have conceded a shit load of goals this season. I’m too worried about us fielding a side that’s toothless in attack.
Imagine the score line vs Sevilla had we not had competent attackers. No pace upfront would also mean they can put all their players far up the pitch.
Nah, let’s start with a strong side. Take no risk.

That's a god point actually. Milner is unlikely to play against Utd imo (not the type of game he does his best work in during CM this season).I'd go with something like the above only with Milner in for Hendo and Ox instead of Solanke.
I want to be going into it with Mane-Firmino-Salah up front and Robertson-VvD - X - X at the back. It isn't about being scared, it's about not taking unnecessary risks on a freezing night. Literally pointless. You can't go into every game scared our players will get injured, the players have played two games in about four weeks, and this game will be an easy one for them considering the lead we have, there's no reason to rest them all unless the doctor advises us to. Yep. That team is not going to get overun and has a decent enough chance of winning.I am in the camp of resting players for this game – we need to use any possible advantage before the United game and having fresher key players could help us in that game and further down the road as well. It's not pointless, chopping and changing players destroys their rhythm and a bad result ruins our momentum, that's much much more like to happen than an injury occurring in a sensibly rotated squad, which we currently are. It baffles me that even with a 5-0 lead at Anfield people want to play not a rotated team, but a B team in the knock out rounds of the champions league, whats the point of football if not for nights like these? Enjoy it.I want to be going into it with Mane-Firmino-Salah up front and Robertson-VvD - X - X at the back. It isn't about being scared, it's about not taking unnecessary risks on a freezing night. You do know that Klopp has made more changes than any other manager in the PL right (and it's not even close) ? Absolutely destroyed our rhythm didn't it. I'd like to win both matches of course but if you said we'd lose this 1-2 with a reserve team and win 0-2 at OT with our full team, I'd take that every day of the week and twice on Sundays. And likely the only way we'll win at OT is with our strongest team. It's not pointless, chopping and changing players destroys their rhythm and a bad result ruins our momentum, that's much much more like to happen than an injury occurring in a sensibly rotated squad, which we currently are. Wholesale changes are what I'm talking about, I'm very pro rotation and would want us to rotate tomorrow, but I'm not pro fielding a B side in the champions league knockout stages. Of course I'd take the scenario above, but the point is that we're more likely to win if we play a good team and we win tomorrow than if we treat it like a reserve game and go into the United game with the narrative "Can this Liverpool side step up after a midweek loss to Porto".You do know that Klopp has made more changes than any other manager in the PL right (and it's not even close) ? (plus Ive already paid out £58 through the auto cup scheme and I don't want to spend 2 hours tomorrow night watching Ings and Solanke run about)

And then if one of our front three gets injured?
I get your logic, but it's fucking cold at the moment, which is when most muscle injuries tend to happen, & the next match is HUGE. Yes, the difference between second & third or fourth is minor in many ways, but in terms of sending a message, I think it's massive.
I want teams to view us next season like they view City now. Most teams have given up against them before the game has kicked off. That's a massive advantage.
9 in league, 6 in CL inc. tomorrow. What are you chatting?Actually 16 now I was thinking of my post before last weekend.
9 + 7
In any case keep the momentum play a strong side.
