The PL is almost done so who would be in your team ? As in by their PL performances this season and not how high you otherwise rate them. Mine :

.................................. De Gea

Clyne ........ Smalling ........... Huth ............. Rose

................................. Dembele

..................Payet ....................... Kante

Mahrez ..................... Kane ................ Vardy

Leicester players for obvious reasons. United's two because their defence is the reason they are still in with a CL shout. The three Spurs players have been the standouts in their positions all season IMO and nothing needs to be said about Payet !
RB was the most difficult for me, Bellerin an option but I went for Clyne for his consistency (at least up until the last match or two where I guess tiredness is now beginning to play a part.

Good shout.

Ozil would defo be in my team as he has been quite spectacular for the Gunners. Dembele wouldn't quite make the cut.

Difficult to argue about the rest, well maybe apart from Clyne and Smalling but I am not even sure about the alternatives either so..

Yeah, I think you've got quite a few that should make it. Certainly Payet, Kante, Kane, Vardy and Mahrez are certs. Probably De Gea too.

Huth and/or Wes Morgan...yep. Perhaps Alderweireld.

I think the only big questions would be around Rose, Clyne and Demebele (especially as he doesn't play in DM for Spurs, Dier does)

Pretty accurate team of the year, though final places could change depending on who wins the league.

.....................................De Gea..................................

Clyne..................Aldewiereld..............Huth..............Fuchs

Mahrez................Drinkwater*............Kante.................Payet

............................Kane.............Vardy..............................

*Can't decide between Drinkwater and Alli.

Bellerin and Monreal have both had excellent seasons too. As has van Djik at Southampton. And De Bruyne has also been fantastic.

What a season its been. Imagine if we could have had a sneak preview of these teams in August, no one would believe it.

Yeah, if this had been done in August, I reckon De Gea, Kane and Clyne might be the only ones you'd have had a chance of getting right.

I find it all very refreshing I have to say.

And even though it'll probably be back to basics next season I still believe it has at least increased optimism in many of the 'smaller' clubs, knowing that fairy tales can come true.

................................. Lloris...............................

Bellerin........ Alderweireld .........Huth .........Rose

................................. Kante................................

..................Payet ....................... Özil.................

Mahrez ..................... Kane ...................... Vardy

Don't think Clyne will get a look in. Some pundits have mentioned that he hasn't performed up to the standard of his Southampton days. While I think he is underrated by some I don't think he has been good enough to make the TOTS.

Zero Liverpool players in that team this year.

Honesty, I don't think Clyne warrants an inclusion, but then again I have no idea who I'd have instead.

Maybe not, but he's the closest Liverpool will get to a player in the TOTS, and there's also not all that many other RB candidates apart from him, Walker and Bellerin. I can't think of anyone else really. Maybe West Ham's Jenkinson? Dunno.

Hype? He's merited every bit of hype. He's had a brilliant debut season and is a fantastic footballer.

The next Bryan Robson and Gascoigne or 10 times better than Milner depending on who you hear it from. I have no idea how he will turn out but I certainly hope not. Spurs will be unbearable for the decade with the next Bryan Royson and Alan Shearer in their team.

It could be worse, Robson and Shearer didn't actually win all that much in their careers. Robson had to wait until he was about 36 to win the title, and Shearer only won it once, and then won fuck all in a decade at Newcastle. Assuming Kane and Delle Ali never play for us, I could handle that, I think.

Bellerin was the other I was toying with .. but then he's inconsistent too. No real standout at RB and personally I think Clyne's had a good season and been reasonably consistent ... and LFC need at least one in the team !

To be honest it would be difficult to argue against most of those other suggestions too. Ozil has had a great year, likewise Fuchs, Alderweireld, Drinkwater and Alli.

Just over 50m for all this...I'd probably slip Ozil in there, but for the sake of value for money, it's hard to beat.

De Gea 17.8m
Bellerin 400k
Huth 3m
Smalling 6m
Fuchs Free
Mahrez 400k
Kante 5.6m
Alli 5m
Payet 11m
Kane Free
Vardy 1.7m

The fact Danny Rose is regarded as one of the best LBs in the league and Smalling a leading centre back says something about the amount of football I've not watched, or how bad the league is defensively this season.

Out of curiosity would anyone consider Schmeichel for the TOTY or has it been mostly down Leicester's stubborn defense and defensive cover from midfield they've kept so many cleans?

Most of the games I've seen them he's not had much to do, and apart from a couple of great saves he's mostly impressed me by looking very good on the ball in his distribution. Some long daddy-like throws and kicks to set Vardy and Mahrez up in attack.

United are apparently interested. I haven't watched him that much, admittedly, but his distribution in the game against us was dire.

Yeah, he probably didn't have to do much right however for that link to surface.

Don't remember him in particular against us but I've seen a few pretty accurate long kicks/throws create chances for Leicester as they are so friggin fast to move players forward.

Schmeichel's just like Mignolet for me, great shot stopper, but prone to some monumental lapses in judgement.
