Bit of an over reaction.
Dirk's very good at them.

How many penalties have we had this season?
If it's a small amount then in the grand scheme of things then it doesn't matter if we miss 80% of them.

My point is that we've missed/had saved sooooooo many more shots at goal that the missed penalties are small fry. Certainly contributes the total missed though.
I think it's just a very annoying statistical freak. In reality we've got plenty of good penalty takers.

I know how reliable Dirk has been in the past but with his failure to score all season I really don't think he was the obvious choice. If Suarez wanted it, I'd have given it to him. He won it after all. Plus South Americans are generally pretty ace at penalties.

You build a team which doesn't rely on penalties, because they don't happen regularly. Of course we should be looking to improve upon that stat, but it's not our greatest priority. Not by a long way.

Not sure about the latest % but back in Aug, the stat for conversion of penalty was low.

...which is why most coaches I've ever heard speak about the subject will warn players off doing that and tell them to keep it low. One even said it's a myth that keepers have a harder job reaching the ball up there - on the contrary, he said they actually have a greater distance to cover to get down to ground level if the shot is placed hard and accurately in the corner.

They probably do that because most penalties are (rightly) kept low. If the majority were hit high I'd expect the usual keeper's response to be different too.
I can't recall a single penalty that was struck with force and accuracy at the top corners being saved in the last year or so. It's a percentage game. Trouble is, it's a more technically difficult under pressure. If someone is cool and they hit it top corner, it's usually unstoppable.

That was the spot Stevie chose to shoot against Oldham. Not possible for the goalie to reach it even though he dived the correct direction.
