They did sort it. Gerrard said so.

Mario just decided to ignore the decision
He made out as he (hendo) was the captain, he takes them.. The captain shold not be the automatic set piece taker..

Hendo is not the best Set Piece taker..

I didn't see the Gerrard drivel but from what's said on here I'm not clear that any decision took into account whether Balotelli would be on the pitch.

It's one thing agreeing that Henderson is the pen taker and another to agree that's out the window as soon as one of the best pen takers around is on the pitch. It didn't look clear on the pitch.

I'd rather we just scored the pens we get this season and worry about next seasons pens next season.

Fair enough, just saying the maybes.

For what it's worth I'd have Mario taking them too, they're a piece of piss to him.

He didn't. He said they had the penalty takers written on a board.

Its not a big deal, things like this happen all over football, its good to have a competitve nature from players which will inevitably lead to the odd disagreement. Hendo the peacemaker, Mario the ego and Sturridge the occasionally selfish sulk. What's new? I'm more pissed at Gerrard being a tactless oaf about it

Gerrard, with his badly tied blue tie, needs to shut the feck up. He actually made Everton look better at how they reacted to their own penalty issue. As has been said, Mario ought to take them when he's on the pitch - and Studge has a nerve seeing as he blew one a year or so ago when he fancied a hattrick. His tantrum was the worst thing of all.

The question over Mario, I guess, is not his ability at taking pens, but his tendency to fuck things up, via his inability to follow instruction & not do something erratic for the sake of attracting attention.

As Brendan would say, he's in a good rhythm at the moment. Unlike Sturridge, who I thought was mentally asleep all night, wasted several chances and then acted like some whiny kid rather than England's centre foward. I just hope Rodgers keeps things in perspective and encourages Mario to push on.

That's what I'm hoping for..

I think Gerrard played his 'Mr Liverpool' Card to literally..

God I'm pissed with him for that..

Balo has done well since he has come back into the team.. Just didn't deserve the kicking he got..

Having watched it over and over it seems to me that Sturridge was actually telling Balotelli to give the ball to Henderson and didn't celebrate because of Balotellis disrespect, which I am OK with because Balotelli is a disruptive bag of rubbish who should never have arrived at Melwood.

Balotelli should have been the one taking it. It's so blindingly obvious that whatever beaurocracy or pecking order could have intervened, is obviously wrong. Balotelli knew it, Henderson knew it, supporters knew it.

There's a reason why Henderson allowed that to happen with just the right amount of pride. He was like the person who politely offers to pay for something, when they know payment will be refused. Everyone knew that was the right outcome, and it didn't happen the right way, but it got the right result.

Gerrard shouldn't fan the flames, and it should be fixed, fixed being Balotelli doesn't have to take the ball from anyone in that situation.

I'm glad by the way that Balotelli takes that ball. Yea, its cuntish and arrogant, but I want that from him.

It's a none issue nobody will remember in a month.

Mario felt confident asked for it. Hendo decided to let him and he scored.

Stevie should learn to stfu about the internal workings of our dressing room when on tv.

The only person I'm disappointed with in this is Stevie.

More importantly it's another win for us!

Henderson begrudgingly Agreed to let Balo take it..

Studge should never got involved..

I don't want to get on Henderson's back really but tonight I noticed the trend of him having to take every fucking set piece. Just like Stevie does. Except he's nowhere near as good as Steven.

Just done my fucking head I'm tonight that. We must have someone that can take a decent corner. Why does it have to be the captain?

He's been chancing his arm at that for a while. He's scored two free kicks for us that I remember and both of them crosses that eluded everyone.

there is a interview with Brendan on the ITV website and the interviewer skirts this issue. Brendan just says its Mario's job to make a contribution and he did. Good stuff so far.

The Gerrard thing shows the danger of allowing a current player comment your team's performance on TV. Hendo came out and explained it and that would have been that, but now we'll have the whole saga over the word "disrespectful." And Balotelli will probably be ostracized and alienated just when he is hitting good form. I maintain he did the right thing too.

If Gerrard is out injured how does he know who Rodgers picked to take the penalties in this game?

Would Gerard have said that during a post match interview? Nope.

He's thick and was feeling pyar billy big balls on the telly.

If the situation is reversed, does Balotelli let Henderson take the ball. Of course not, and that's why Balotelli is right to take it.

Penalties are easy, in practice. Confidence is everything.

Sturridge, like all personnel should, followed the Managers orders and told Balotelli to let Henderson take the penalty. Henderson bottled it, Balotelli ignored orders and made next years captain look weak. Neither celebrated the winning goal.

If that's the case then Rodgers is fecking stupid to have hendo ahead of one of the best penalty takers in the world. I cannot believe for one minute that was the managers orders..

One is a proven penalty taker, the other isn't..

It probably likely hendo was the penalty taker until Balo comes on the pitch.
