Kompany joined from a German team, when he was 21-23 years old, off the back of an injury ravaged season. Hmmm.

'Papa' is back on the pitch. Kyriakos Papadopoulos has been working on his own over the past weeks and months following his knee injury. The Greek defender celebrated his return to the Royal Blues’ training ground for the first time on Tuesday.

The defender completed a rigorous individual training session under the supervision of fitness coaches Ruwen Faller and Henrik Kuchno plus his Greek physio Lefteris Pavlidis. "It felt fantastic to be back on the pitch again. Even though it was very tiring," said Papadopoulos. "I'm making progress day-by-day and I hope I'll back in full training very soon."

Klaas-Jan Huntelaar also trained at the side of the pitch while his team mates started to work through final preparations for the first competitive match of the new season in the DFB Cup tie against FC Nöttingen next Monday.

The 'Hunter', currently struggling with a muscular problem, did some work with the ball but mainly completed circuits round the training ground. He should be available for the Cup game.

"There's not a jot of truth in it," Heldt told German newspaper Reviersport. "We have no offer for Papadopoulos. Neither from Liverpool or some other club.

"On the contrary: we are very happy that 'Papa' is making progress and can be back soon, hopefully. We're planning with him."

Despite being adamant that no bid has arrived for Schalke's prized asset, Heldt did go on to reveal that the club will consider the sale of Papadopoulos should a sufficient offer be tabled.

He added: "If we receive an offer for him, we will come together and talk about that as we do with every player for us."

Hes saying Shakhtar said we could speak to him but that a deal was already agreed with Dortmund!? How does that work? He suggests that permission was given to talk to the player before a deal with Dortmund but then before we spoke to him Dortmund had signed him? How does that work?
What player EVER would not listen to an offer from a premier league club (who pay more than any other club)

So what, now it's that Rodgers opportunistically pounced on the agent talk in order to get fans' hopes up for signings that won't materialise??

Why would he say it then? Surely it would do more harm than good if true, rivals know we have money, are interested in an attacking midfielder, all the while making us look like an unattractive option for players. Not saying you're wrong just can't fathom the motives for saying it if not true.
