Sorry if this had been posted earlier. Didn't realize until today that he'd left / was leaving his club.

Pako: “Thank you all for the amazing journey"

Maccabi Tel Aviv conducted a special press conference with CEO Martian Bain, sporting director Jordi Cruyff and Coach Pako Ayesteran

Maccabi Tel Aviv announced that coach Pako Ayesteran will not continue with the club next season. Maccabi’s CEO, Martin Bain said: “Pako Ayestaran will not continue with us. We had a great season and we enjoyed it together.”

Pako added: “I really enjoyed my time here. I want to thank everyone for an amazing journey in Tel Aviv. I came here knowing I made the right choice. I had the responsibility to achieve goals that were not easy and we accomplish all of them. We are happy with our success. When I came here I understood that I have the best squad in Israel because of Jordi and the club. It is time to move on and to accomplish new goals. The club realized it needs something new and so did I.”

Jordi Cruyff thanked the coach as well: “I want to thank Pako and his staff for a terrific season. We were fantastic this season and Pako was able to set a very high standard. He had additional pressure when he came and he didn’t have a pre-season to build the team. We needed an optimistic personality and Pako was able to answer all of our needs. I want to thank Pako, your name is engraved in the club’s history for leading Maccabi Tel Aviv to its greatest season. We have a game ahead that is part of this great season and we wanted the Maccabi family to show its gratitude to Pako before he leaves”.

Maybe he is being appointed as the assistant coach so that when Rodgers fails and is sacked we have a ready made caretaker manager able to take up the reins.

I called this shit a couple of weeks ago.

I don't see him as caretaker manager, I think fsg would see him as an ideal prospect.

As much as I disagree with their ethos, the fact they're so keen to find value in young promising players suggests to me they'd do the same with a manager, & he fits the bill in every respect.

I am sure Rodgers would see through that, which should ground the conditions for a fantastic working relationship!

Paulo Sousa is 3 times the manager Pako is.
When Sousa was in Tel-Aviv they were much better as a team and even the players are now saying in interviews Sousa was much better.

That doesnt change the fact that he'd be an excellent assistent manager though.
I'd have him back in a heartbeat.

I'd have him back as an assistant in a second too. Just can't see him taking that step back.

Wouldn't be terribly against him as manager either if we couldn't land someone at the top end of the spectrum.
