DONI:
It's certainly a very strange situation with Doni. Brendan Rodgers is happy to discuss most things but the reasons behind the Brazilian keeper's continued absence are off limits.
INCE:
In terms of Tom Ince, the situation is pretty clear. LFC value him at £6million, Blackpool want £8million so that's why the deal hasn't happened. I expect LFC to try to re-ignite those talks before tomorrow night but they won't pay £8million. It all hinges on whether Blackpool reduce their demands.
COUTINHO:
I expect the club to officially announce Coutinho at some point today. They are awaiting confirmation that he has been granted a work permit. Once that has been granted then I'm sure they will confirm it.
BUTLAND:
LFC have scouted Butland and been impressed but they have never submitted a bid. Butland has made it clear that he only wants to leave Birmingham for a club where he will play regularly. That isn't going to happen at LFC between now and end of this season.
SKRTEL:
Rodgers and Skrtel haven't fallen out but there's no doubt the manager hasn't been happy with some of the centre-back's recent performances, hence why he was dropped for the Norwich game. It was interesting on Monday when Rodgers spoke about Matt Smith for Oldham causing the same kind of problems that Benteke did for Villa. The only centre-back to play in both of those games was Skrtel. Rodgers was furious at the way his centre-backs failed to match Oldham physically and got bullied. But it shouldn't be blown out of proportion. Rodgers had a pop at Downing and Enrique earlier in the season and look at how they responded. Hopefully Skrtel will do likewise.
DEFENCE:
Rodgers was initially looking to strengthen defensively. LFC certainly need left back cover and possibly a centre-back but the manager made it clear his priority this window was attacking reinforcements which he has got with arrival of Sturridge and Coutinho. He believes boosting other areas of the squad can wait until the summer.
STADIUM:
Nothing new on the stadium. As Ian Ayre said in the ECHO recently, everything is on course and the club expect to submit a planning application in the spring.
REINA:
I've got no reason to believe Rodgers wants to sell Reina in the summer. Only recently the manager was praising Reina for the manner in which he has committed himself to the cause, lost weight, redoubled his efforts etc.
DALGLISH:
Nothing to add currently on Dalglish returning in some capacity. I think it will happen at some stage but it's certainly not imminent.
BORINI:
Borini has been poor since he signed but we've got to remember he's only 21. Rodgers made it clear he had been bought with the future in mind but ended up having to throw him into the side straightaway because the squad was left so short of firepower. Borini had a shocker v Oldham but in his defence that was his first start in 3 and a half months. Plenty of players have had slow starts to their LFC career and come good. It's too early to judge him. Rodgers has worked with him before and clearly believe in him.
GERRARD:Gerrard made it clear when he signed his last contract that he would be staying at Anfield for the rest of his career and nothing has changed. However, I do think the owners need to get his contract sorted. It shouldn't be allowed to drag on. Gerrard's form is outstanding and playing every minute of every PL game has highlighted his fitness.
That's all, folks!
