Assuming we do sign Cahill then, is it safe to assume one of Skrtel or Agger are gone?

Agger's maybe the better player, but injury prone and moans when he's out of the team.

Skrtel would be a fine back up, but he's started every game this season so would he be willing to move back into a squad player role?

Who stays, who goes?

Personally I'd keep Skrtel and sell Agger.

Maybe they'll both stay?

If we had to get rid of one then I'd let Agger go. Not that he's the better of the two, he's just totally unreliable.

shift agger. he's a treatment table piss taker. Cahill and skrtel can get trained by carra for when his legs go. Wilson and kelly can learn their trade while cahill and skrtel bum forwards

yep, agger's becoming a bit pointless. FWIW, the transfer oracle that is pault86 on twitter is saying that agger's for sale this summer and that if he goes we'll sign 2 centre halves. not sure that's necessary myself with kelly, wilson, wisdom and even ayala coming through, but whatever.

Agger will go and Skrtel will probably be the third centre back I guess, then the likes of Kelly can be trained for the centre role in the longterm.

Could be true. No one has seen Kelly at centre back at this level and Wilson hasn't looked ready. If Agger goes then that leaves Carra and Skrtel as the only two senior centre backs, one is the wrong side of 30 and the other has been hit and miss of late.

The Greek is off so shifting Agger would be madness because we'd be left with only Carra and Skrtel.

Kelly and Wilson are both great prospects but unproven in a pivotal position.

oh aye, i see the reasoning...it's just a bit of a fine line between giving the youth a reasonable chance and being left short. but you're probably right on balance given the status of carra and skrtel.

I would send Wilson and Ayala too loan to some smaller club to gain more experience. Sell Kyrgiakos and keep Agger for one more season and sell him next summer if he can't stay fit. Therefore four central defenders for next season Cahill, Carra, Agger and Skrtel.

Ayala is never a Liverpool player, and should never have got a game ahead of Kelly anyhoo.

The Greek will be sold I guess.

Which is a good thing cos he's absolutely fucking BRUTAL.

Where's KHL to post a spirited defense of Agger? We're getting close to the end of page 1!

And I agree with everyone, sell Agger for sure, injured way too often to be of any real use.

Carra
Cahill
Skrtel
Kelly
Wilson

Solid.

Agreed. I'm all for Kelly being brought into the centre. I think he'd be the long term replacement for Carra.

Full back rotations can be:

RB: Johnson, Flanagan
LB: New player (Cissokho), Robinson

We'd be set with that for a good 5-6 years at least.

Is Cahill pacy? Would a pairing of Carra and Cahill be too slow? And would it be, for want of a better word, too agricultural?

I'd shift Agger for obvious reasons. I mean if he's fit he's good. But he is so unreliable, it's unreal.

Skrtel has his flaws but at least he's made of Lucanium.

He's good in the air and a threat from set pieces.

Shame about the rest as he's very easy to like.

I'd prefer a left footed CB if there was one available. Are there any?
[/quote]

Agger? Oh sorry, he's never available.

Looks like its just Khl and me left in the Agger camp.

I'm still backing him; he elbowed Torres in the face.
