This fee will see the midfield market really hot up. Shame we havent closed Thuram etc earlier given what will happen now.
I don't see why it should. Everyone knows it's the English premium.
Arsenal now out of the race for any other midfielders. City are City nothing changing there. West Ham aren't shopping in the same market.

He's a huge huge improvement on a) Partey and b) xhaka.
Physically imposing, comfortable on the ball, serious engine and a leader.
If we were signing him, I'd be ecstatic.
Overpriced? Maybe - it really depends on what they do with him ... If they win a league or CL, it will be well worth it.

He’s about the same as Partey for me. Very good player but with an insane English tax.
If we were paying that for him the forum would go into a meltdown. But since its an other club thats doing the business its obviously excellent.

Partey is staying as well, so they have indeed improved their midfield. They’re still Arsenal though.

Would I be happy if we paid 105 on Rice? no, fuck no ... but if winning the league meant breaking the CB & GK transfer records, then fuck yeah - do it.
As I said, the transfer will depend on Arsenal's success as they're trying to make their move ... and that I respect, as you want your team to go for it ...

Imagine if your friend just got a new job, had a big presentation coming up, and bought a new suit. It looks pretty smart, nothing special, and it's tailored, but you think, hey, that was smart. Everyone should have at least one tailored suit, it's an expense, but he's investing in himself.

Then he tells you it cost 20,000.

GO FOR IT! You exclaim. I respect your intent and desire!

Meanwhile, elsewhere in this thread, Nunez, with 42 appearances (more than I think Klopp wanted to use him his first year) is listed summarily in the context of failure as "dropped."

But we went for it with him? Did we not go for it enough? Should we have spent 20 million more so that he would be better?

I think people think buying Nunez was more buying a purple zoot suit for a job interview, rather than the standard

Clearly 100M for Rice is madness. But, he'll be a great player at a top club, he's miles better than Partey for a kick-off.

Timber, Havertz and Rice are good additions to their team, and they may not be finished. I was dubious they'd be top 4 again next season but might have to revise that thinking.

Havertz i've not been sold by in England, so it'll be interesting to see if they can coax the talent back out, and where he even fits in their team. Rice and Timber would be great signings for them annoyingly. Still fell they need another winger as backup for martinellis inevitable injury, or a striker for Jesus' inconsistent finishing ability. I think they've done enough thought to be a strong candidate for top 4

Don't know if it's been mentioned, but the De Gea situation is fucking comical.

"David de Gea signed a contract extension with Manchester United, only for the club to back out of the agreed proposal.
De Gea, 32, agreed to a drastic reduction on his current £375,000 per week wages, but the club did not sign the contract and have now submitted a new proposal to De Gea, whose contract expires on June 30, with an even lower salary."

Surprised Man U are treating a player like that so badly.

Havertz is shit and were are they gonna play him? Pretty expensive back up for a player that doesnt score goals.
Its Danny Welbeck mk II when they signed him from Utd.

Rice is a very good player and will improve their team. But 100 mill is insane and I dont think he's that much better than Partey either.
But Partey is 30, 2 years left on his deal and injury prone.

Maddison to Spurs for 40 mill £. Thats a good move for Spurs and a good deal. Guess he feels gutted that he wont be assisting Harry Kane but crossing the ball to Richarlison instead.

Is it only me, or is he a sick note?
talented player mind you -

I have an irrational dislike of Maddison. He has a face which screams "Will play for United" someday. Dont ask me to explain it.

Apperently he used to walk around Norwich telling students his shoes cost more than their house. It's perfectly rational to hate the prick.

I always knew there was something wrong him. Thanks for supplying the evidence 😉

Wtf. So easy for people to hate on others because of something they did once upon a time half a century ago when they were a teenager.

Imagine if I judged you now based on how you lived life as a kid. Heck imagine if we all did that, society would be more fucked than it is today.

like my shit

I highly doubt we had the Mac Allister deal wrapped up last summer. We were still in the "only human being on the planet who can play in our midfield is Bellingham" mode. We had no clue how bad Fabinho, Henderson were going to stink the season out.
