Kovacic as Gundogans replacement sounds very weird in all honesty. Gundogan is a big game player that has scored quite a lot of goals for City with 38 goals over the last 3 seasons. Kovacic scores about 1-2 goals per season.

he is more of a grafter, and does not offer the same creativity
It's not always about replacing like for like.

People have in it their minds it's either the highway or no way, football can be played in more ways than 1.

Pep has had a knack of tweaking the role of the players he's signed that were previously suited to a different type of system.

How many do you think Gundogan was getting before joining City?

You're expecting Kovacic to develop into a goalscoring midfielder at the age of 30?

Not to the level Gundogan's been for them the last few seasons no, but if he's being asked to play the Gundogan role then naturally he's gonna be given the freedom to roam more in the final third.....I could see him ending up with 5 goals 5 assists or something like that.

Good to see that these contracts have been dealt with.

Nicolas Jackson has completed his medical ahead of a move to Chelsea from Villarreal.
The Senegal forward has a €35m (£30.1m) release clause in his Villarreal contract, with the final details on an eight-year contract at Stamford Bridge being finalised.

UEFA were supposedly going to outlaw this before this summer's window, but as far as I can tell the loophole still exists in the Premier League rules (and the latest version of the rules on UEFA's website is from 2022, so not changed yet).
But Chelsea are so shit right now they won't need to worry about UEFA's rules for a bit...
And to be clear, even if UEFA change the rules, Chelsea can still do 8 year deals, they just have to re-calculate their figures for UEFA submissions on the basis of 5 years.

I.e. Amortise over 5 years instead of 8.

Wouldn't surprise me if there was an injunction launched by Chelsea at the 11th hour to delay it.

Correct on the first part. Their historic deals can still amortise over 8 for UEFA FFP, it's just new ones after the rule change that would be affected, but that's all based on press commentary, no official UEFA release that I can see.

City not finding straigh forward to sign their choice midfielders this summer.
Bellingham chose elsewhere and Rice doesn’t seem that bothered to force this one through his side yet. Interesting to see what would happen when West Ham do accept a City offer.

Arsenal are linked with Fofana from Monaco today. Rice will probably go to City I’m guessing.

Arsenal also want Timber which seems a weird one given that they have Saliba, White and bought Kiwor in January.

Always like Madders, both as a player how he carries himself professionally and how he comes across in interviews.

Don't think we were ever interested as he's not really suited to our style & I'm not sure if he'll be much better suited at Spurs unless he plays in a deeper role, I assume he'll take the place of either Bantancur or Hojbjerg in the midfield 2 as opposed to challenging Son for that inside left forward role.

Good luck to him either way.

Spurs already spent 122m this window (Porro/Kuluevski/Vicario/Maddison) & that's even before they've sold a player.....take note FSG.
