Not in any other circs.though. I'm not a fan of tinkering with players' positions. That was one of Uncle Roy's biggest failings and we significantly underachieved in his time in charge IMO.

Yes, Roy pretty much ruined Jason McAteer's career playing him at right-back.

He also insisted on playing Paddy Berger on the right of midfield - when he wasn't ruining a talented attacking CM in Oyvind Leonhardsen by putting him there. A fair few of the players we had at that time are often remembered as having been poor footballers, but in quite a number of cases I don't think they were. What actually happened was that Roy's use of them went seriously awry.

I'd only want wisdom played the against the likes of Wigan (dodgy example ) or someone a bit poor tbh.

It's not like it's a new experience for him, he's a cb by trade anyway.
