Ngooing in Green n' White?

You have to remember N'Goo is 6'6 and tall players take more time to develop. I would certainly not sell at this point for a mere £2m.

He's 20. So he misses your arbitrary cut-off point by a year. Outside of computer games, players are individuals who develop in different ways at different speeds. I can deal with that. I guess you can't.

As are managers, so why don't you answer thew question as to why you're lecturing some people on making early judgements on players when you're the one who lost it with Rodgers after about 2 weeks?

You hypocrite.

Ryan or for that matter anyone on this forum has no right to talk about hypocrisy.

Below is what Ryan said - a veiled attack on all those who criticized Allen's poor form.

Footballers don't get tired.

Footballers are either world class or fucking shit and overrated depending on how they played the previous Saturday. I learned that on SCM.

After reading the above bit, if you can go and search "Agger" and select by poster "Ryan", you can see Ryan in his glorious hypocritical best.

Why do you care if a person is hypocritical? What difference does it make? We are not voting him for president of Six Crazy Minutes, are we?

Just tell us if you agree or disagree with what GK Macca has said in this thread...if you don't have a opinion, then move along....take your bickering to the thread about Rodgers...

I have Ryan on ignore, but still, as I can see here, he persists in trying to start an argument with me. That's all that needs to be said.

In the interests of consistency, I do hope that Gary Locke's 37-year-old body settles down after his growing spurts, he listens carefully to his management coaches, he gets experience of managing on loan in many different situations and he looks after himself off the dugout. Let's give him some time.*

* And I realise now that, in order not to appear hypocritical about giving young players time, I should also urge patience about George Osborne, David Cameron, Nick Clegg, Nigel Farage, the ITV diving game show "Splash", Newsweek's digital-only edition, The Matt Lucas Awards, the Daily Mail, Bonnie Tyler's bid for Eurovision glory, Neil Warnock, Pippa Middleton's publishing career, Kate Middleton's breeding career, the Kindle Fire, the Ipad Mini, East Enders plotlines, RAWK, Spielberg's Lincoln, Jason Statham's bid for an Oscar, the new Times app, horse-free burgers, the election of a new Pope, Rafa's attempt to win over the Chelsea supporters and Garstang's campaign to be Europe's 2020 Capital of Culture.

Ngoo's made a very good start - wriggling past a defender tight on the right wing to put in a good cross, running down the left wing and into the area to get a shot saved at the near post.

he has looked decent

but...

Whatever happens playing competitive matches like this has got to be good for young lads, we should probably send a few more that way next season.

Hearts striker Michael Ngoo: Last year I watched Liverpool team win cup.. now it's my turn

13 Mar 2013 08:25

THE on-loan star watched his Anfield team-mates lift the League Cup in England last year, now he's hoping to do the same with Hearts.

MICHAEL NGOO supped champagne on a train with Steven Gerrard and now hopes his career won’t be shunted into the sidings by Brendan Rodgers.
The on-loan Hearts striker is desperate to celebrate success in the League Cup Final against St Mirren on Sunday.
A year ago he was part of a party of Liverpool starlets who travelled to watch Kenny Dalglish’s side lift the English trophy equivalent in a penalty shootout win over Cardiff at Wembley.
Much has changed since, not least the Anfield manager, but Ngoo hopes his dreams of playing regular first-team football for one of the world’s biggest clubs have been boosted by his move to Hearts.
Ngoo, 20, scored on his debut in the semi-final victory over Inverness at Easter Road and won immediate fan favourite status among the Tynecastle hoards.
The targetman may have an ungainly style but has proved more than a handful for Scottish defences over the last six weeks – and he hopes it hasn’t gone unnoticed by Rodgers who is kept up-to-date on his performances with the Jambos via DVD.
Ngoo said: “I can’t wait for the League Cup Final. My move to Hearts has exceeded my expectations and it is a dream come true to be playing at Hampden in my first senior cup final.
“I was at Wembley last year with Liverpool. All the reserve players went to watch and even celebrated with the boys afterwards.
“The squad travelled back on the same day because the league campaign was still ongoing and we took the train.
“We passed the cup around and everyone was taking pictures and singing – and, yes, there was a bit of champagne.
“Of course I would have preferred to have been out there on the pitch as every player hopes to experience that level of occasion. However, I have to acknowledge the fact I’m young, still learning and trying to gather experience.
“It is good to learn from top players and by watching big matches. You need to soak up everything and apply it to your own game when you’re given the chance.
“I hope to have done enough to be considered one of the young players in Brendan’s plans for next season.

“Liverpool have DVDs of all my performances for Hearts so even if they don’t get to the cup final this weekend they will still see the game. I am always getting texts from the staff at Liverpool.
“Maybe the manager there will be looking for other things in his team such as height and strength. There are different reasons he could put me in.
“I’m glad I have been a challenge for very good defenders in the SPL in my first top-flight run-in. If I keep working then I could be a Plan B for Liverpool.”

Ngoo is a Londoner who was rejected as a teenager by childhood favourites West Ham, only to be offered a deal by Manchester United which he knocked back to sign for arch-rivals Liverpool.
The club have grown quickly in his heart and Ngoo was even booked earlier this season in his side’s demolition of Chelsea’s youth team for removing his shirt to reveal a Hillsborough tribute.
He scored the fourth goal in a 4-1 rout for Liverpool’s Under-21s and revealed a vest that read “96 reasons 4 justice”.
The crowd at Brentford’s Griffin Park booed the referee and cheered Ngoo for his tribute, which came in the week the Hillsborough Independent Panel released their report into what had really happened in the disaster.
He added: “I don’t regret it. Liverpool are a big club and as a kid I followed the team. I knew about what happened at Hillsborough and it was sad.
“It means a lot to fans and friends I know who adore Liverpool so I did it for them.”

He also has no qualms about rejecting United, even though some of the teenagers he lined up alongside in the prestigious Milk Cup in Northern Ireland now feature for Sir Alex Ferguson at Old Trafford.
He said: “We won the tournament and I scored in the Final and set up the other in a 2-1 win.
“My team-mates included Paul Pogba, Revel Morrison, Will Keane and Joshua King and some of them have featured for United this season.
“It was a good experience and they wanted to sign me but I ended up choosing Liverpool.”
Ngoo admits he would struggle to find Hampden with a satnav but if he nets against Saints he will owe much to Dalglish, whose smile lit up the national stadium on so many occasions with Celtic and Scotland.
He said: “Kenny was a big influence as academy manager at Liverpool. We had a lot of conversations and he even used to come out and train with us sometimes.
“He was always around and passing on great advice for us all. He was absolute quality in training. He would always have a laugh and a joke but when he starts doing the tricks and skills you could see how good he was in his prime.
“Even now he knows the way to goal, he hasn’t lost that. That quality never leaves.”
England Under-20 striker Ngoo has netted twice in nine appearances for Hearts and will have a clutch of family and friends from London and Liverpool at the final against Saints.
Sadly, however, some of his Anfield
team-mates who had hoped to make the trip north were forced to cancel their plans as a result of training schedules.
He said: “A few friends are coming up and a few Liverpool players wanted to take in the game too. Training
commitments ruled them out but they will be watching on television.
“It will be a very different experience on Sunday, playing a final instead of watching one and I must step up to the mark.
“I’ve heard so much about last season’s 5-1 win over Hibs in the Scottish Cup Final. That sounded good – and I want to be part of more success this season.”

Great stuff.

Is it just me being biased or do almost all players coming trhough our academy seem like very likeable lads? I'm guessing they teach a lot more than just football there these days.

Yes, it's interesting, because Steve Heighway seemed to be good at bringing them up in the right way but McParland, Borrell and the others appear to be just as effective these days. I hear that Borrell in particular really commands their respect and they want to impress him as people as well as players.

Long may it last ...

FOR Hearts’ loan signings Michael Ngoo and Danny Wilson, Sunday’s Scottish Communities League Cup Final is “their biggest game,” according to former Liverpool manager and Scottish football legend Kenny Dalglish.

Dalglish recalled having both players in his care at Liverpool, Wilson having signed from Rangers before Dalglish’s last stint as manager, and Ngoo being a member of the club’s football academy while Dalglish was there in 2009.

He is convinced both players will revel in the experience of a final at Hampden. “I hope the two of them do really well and have a bit of success,” he said.

“Both of them have been fortunate that John McGlynn brought them in and they have a chance of playing in the final. On Sunday it will be the biggest game in the world for them, and for the two teams.”

Dalglish has been following the lanky Ngoo’s progress in particular, and was delighted to hear that the youngster had said that he chose to go to Liverpool rather than Manchester United after speaking to both Dalglish and Mr. Ferguson.

“I must have spoken better English than Fergie,” quipped Dalglish, who recalled Ngoo’s arrival at the Liverpool academy as a 16-year-old.

He said: “Rafa Benitez had just revamped the academy and [academy director] Frank McParland saw Ngoo playing for Southend and brought him up. He was a very pleasant boy, and mannerly.

“He is a big boy who can play on the left as well. His coordination wasn’t what it is now, but they had a look at him and decided to give him an opportunity.

“He was good as gold, did all the training and worked really hard. It’s great for him to be up here and getting this opportunity. Playing first-team football is not going to do him any harm.

“I don’t think at 20 he is going to put Luiz Suarez or Daniel Sturridge out of the Liverpool first team. It’s a bit much to expect at his age, but it’s fantastic for him to have come up here and to have played at Hampden.”

Ngoo scored the equaliser against Inverness Caledonian Thistle in that semi-final, his first match for Hearts. He also slotted away one of the shoot-out penalties that gave Hearts the victory.

“He played 120 minutes that day and only came up here on the Friday,” said Dalglish. “Now he’s looking forward to the final. It’s great experience for him that can only stand him in good stead.”

Ngoo & Wilson have both been horrific in the Final, so far.

Hearts have been dire, Ngoo has barely had any service. I know in comic book terms he's supposed to clear off the line, dribble past all the players twice and then slot in the opponents' goal, but in reality he's in a shit team that would struggle to find each other on Facebook.

A typical example just happened: Ngoo gets the ball a couple of yards outside the area, lays it off to a teammate on the left and sprints into the area, but his teammate doesn't wait, keeps his head down and belts the ball across to the far side where absolutely nobody is waiting for it. Hopeless.

Edit: Ngoo does well to delay his pass and set up a goal for Hearts. If only someone would do that for him.

Ngoo had a few chances - not great ones mind, a low cross that was wellied at him, which just him him on the knee - a cross with a free header, which was just behind him and he couldn't keep the header down - and a St Mirren player last ditch diving tackle when he gas a clear shot on goal.

Yes, Hearts were shit and Ngoo had no service, but his first touch was patchy and he was very crouch-like in that he didn't really dominate in the air.

Wilson seems well schooled in the art of loosing the opposition forwards in your own box - but he did well with one important saving tackle near the end.

Binny do you need a reset ? isn't that article from january and he did indeed play there .

Reserve team striker Michael Ngoo, who spent four months of last season on loan at Hearts, could be set for another temporary move to gain experience with Championship side Yeovil.

Highly-rated Liverpool youngster Michael Ngoo is set to move on loan to newly promoted Championship side Yeovil Town next season.

According to Association Press, the 20-year-old striker will spend a second consecutive season on loan as Liverpool are unable to offer the London-born starlet any first-team opportunities.

However, Yeovil will be getting a highly capable talent on loan as Ngoo scored five times in 17 appearances on loan at Hearts last season.

Hearts were reported to be interested in taking Ngoo on a permanent deal but any chances of a deal evaporated after the SPL club entered administration this summer.

Ngoo has risen through the ranks at Liverpool after joining from Southend United in 2009, although he has yet to make his first-team debut.

The youngster is also eligible for England after playing for the Under-19s and Under-20s but could opt to play for Cameroon and Nigeria through his parents.

Ironicall, Yeovil plays in "Green n' White". 😛

I think he has only a year left on his contract and I don't think we'll renew. Probably will get a small reimbursement fee for his development in the end, or we'll give him away from free.

Article dated 15th June 2013

SIGNING for Liverpool was the greatest moment of Michael Ngoo’s career — and playing for Hearts wasn’t far behind it.

The giant striker last night said he’ll never forget his four months at Tynecastle.

Ngoo also spoke of his fears for the Jambos — and how he deserately hopes they can survive another huge financial crisis.

Ngoo’s Reds future is on the line with only a year left of his contract, but he believes being a loan Jambo has given him a chance of reviving his Anfield hopes under Brendan Rodgers.

Ngoo has been told he will be part of the first team squad’s pre-season tour of Australia.

The 6ft 6in youngster said: “I loved my time at Hearts and I’ll always be thankful for it.

“I needed to play regular first-team football and I got that in Scotland.

“Hearts is a great club and they gave me an amazing experience.

“I was able to play and score in a cup semi-final. Then, of course, there was the final at Hampden.

“It was a massive disappointment that we lost, but the experience was invaluable for me.

“To get the goal against Inverness at Easter Road was a great moment and the Hearts fans gave me brilliant backing.

“I can’t thank them enough. They are in my heart. Wherever my career takes me, I’ll always remember them.

“I played for England at youth level, I signed for Liverpool — and playing for Hearts in the SPL is up there with it all.

“I wasn’t in Scotland for long, but there are so many good people at Hearts, the supporters are amazing, and everyone else was so friendly.”

Ngoo didn’t hesitate to join Hearts in January — after watching their outstanding performance at Anfield five months earlier in the second leg of their Europa League play-off tie.

David Templeton gave the Jambos the lead with only five minutes left — but, agonisingly, Luis Suarez netted an equaliser and Hearts went out 2-1 on aggregate having lost the first leg 1-0.

Ngoo — who signed for Liverpool at 16 in a £250,000 deal from Southend — said: “You couldn’t help but be impressed with Hearts that night. The team played extremely well and I loved their fans.

“I knew they were a big club, so it was an easy decision for me.

“Now I’m worried for everyone — I really hope they can emerge from their current problems.

“The players there are good, young, anxious to do well and very professional. I thought Gary Locke was a top man and good manager.

“He knows how he wants Hearts to play and he is so passionate about the club.

“It is just unfortunate that the finances are not great and his hands are tied, but I wish him and the boys all the best.”

Now Ngoo is fired up to capitalise on his time in the SPL. He said: “The experience made me a better player and I go back to Liverpool with more confidence.

“I still believe in myself to make it at the club — but it will be up to Brendan Rodgers.

“I know he kept an eye on how I was doing at Hearts. He sent me a good luck message before the League Cup Final against St Mirren.

“I was grateful for that. It was kind of him and gave me a boost.

“It showed me that he was aware of what I was doing in Scotland.”
