Would people sell?

If they offer a 2-3+ million fee with a sell-on fee and/or buy back clause, I think it would be a good bit of business. He can obviously still develop into a very useful player but his opportunities over the next few years here will be limited with Suarez, Studge + Borini.

ON-LOAN Liverpool striker Michael Ngoo has made such an impact north of the border at Hearts that Celtic have been linked with a summer swoop for his services.

The 6ft 5ins centre-forward scored three goals in his first four games with The Jambos – and while he hasn’t scored in his last five, he was influential in the Edinburgh side’s 2-0 victory over St Johnstone on Tuesday,

The continued pursuit of Celtic’s Gary Hooper by a number of top English clubs is reported to be the catalyst for their interest. Norwich had six bids turned down in January.

Personally, no.

Despite his awkwardness I've always liked the look of him. Even with another loan-spell, perhaps back in England, his value could increase rapidly. As he's also got some measures (height) we lack in the team he could prove a valuable member over time as well.

Not to be miserable, but at 21 he should have made some signs that he's going to step up soon. If not, best sell him on with a good sell on fee.

I agree.

He has, hasn't he? That's why people are talking about him

I meant in our team, maybe I'm being harsh, but Suso, Shelvey, Morgan, Sterling, Robinson and Wisdom have all been given opportunities despite being young than him, I think if he was going to make it here, he'd have had that opportunity by now.

Oh I see. Yes, although he was improving and catching the eye. He's been given the chance now to make an impression on loan and he's doing really well. I just hope Rodgers thinks outside that false box of his and sees the added options that he MIGHT provide here.

I definitely wouldn't sell. He should be loaned out in England next season, if he's not a part of the squad. His size and speed (and some good, weird technique) will ensure we get a much better price for him should he do well in the EPL. Even if he only performs at Ngog level, he'd still fetch 2-3m. We'd be silly to get rid in the summer for that amount.

I wouldn't be in any rush to sell even though I think he's probably short of Liverpool class. The best measure of a young player's ability is how they get on in senior football, and he's done really well, better than some more highly regarded players like Robinson and Morgan. The mystery of investing in youth is judging which players actually come through, so just as a spectacular talent like Ibe or even Suso might yet fail, another like Ngoo might make the grade.

Get him another 6 month loan, and if he does well again perhaps look to give him some game time in 2014. It's not like we're going to be overstocked with strikers any time soon.

You could look at it like this - if Morgan or Pacheco had've been sent up north for six months would they have made a similar impact?

I'm almost certain that the answer would be no.

Sometimes players don't get chances at big clubs and when they do elsewhere they start to blossom. Hummels at Munich, Alba at Barcelona and the list goes on.

Now I'm not saying Ngoo is going to become some amazing player. I was one of those that wrote him off a couple years ago but he's improved of late and when given the chance at senior level he's proven that he can hack it.

I think we should take a punt on him improving even more.

I can't pretend I can remember how Crouch did at the same age - I think he would have been at QPR at the same stage in his career, but Ngoo is arguably just as capable of advancing, technically and physically, to exploit his strengths, and there's more there, potentially, than Crouchie ever had.

I'd loan him out for a year to Celtic. He'd improve greatly.
I really rate him. Good technique and pace combined with being a big lad.
He'll fit into the system and bring in some added qualities we lack.

If he doesnt make the step up then thats a risk well taken regardless.

Doing well in the Scotish league isn't exactly the benchmark for making it the prem.
I mean how much good did it do Adam Hammill?

Yes, but as you well know, Hammill was a very different sort of character - a small-time big-time Charlie who thought that so long as he hit the odd long range shot and did a few nice tricks he was entitled to stroll around for the rest of the time and never try to improve. Ngoo, in contrast, has a great attitude, works his socks off and really wants to learn, so the comparison isn't very helpful.

Remind Modo again how that Mark Viduka chap did at Leeds after 'doing well in Scotland' ...

Tell me the story about Gary Hooper and how he was doing so well in England.

Sell with the buy back thing, it's way more than I ever thought we'd get for him. It's just my opinion but I don't think he's very good.

Thats true. He hasn't convinced me though.

We'll end up getting more for Ngoo than we do for Carroll.

Yes, sell, send him him off to Neil Lennon(he'll be desperate for a big man up front when Hooper leaves this summer)with a cheque for £7m made payable when Lennon puts Wanyama on a train to Liverpool. With the possible departure of three centre backs this summer we should be already planning filling the holes. Well done the academy but the only waves Ngoo has been making is in the SPL, at his age he must be closer than he is to the Liverpool first team squad.
If we are having the 'successful in the SPL then successful in the EPL competition' then I will respectfully throw the name Charlie Adam into the hat.

He'll be a low-to-mid-table Premier League player IMO. He might develop enough to be an option off the bench, but I very much doubt he'd be happy with that.

Is he any good?
He's a bit like Crouch, big gangly and isn't particularly good at heading. He's got a deceptive amount of skill (in a good way) and he holds the ball up really well, allowing to link up well with support strikers or midfielders. I think he is a lot stronger than Crouch was at his age.

To summarise, he is good, Rodgers wouldn't play him and if he continues to develop he could play at a high level (but not the top 6 prem teams).

Is he a bit like Crouch in that he might score Champions League hat-tricks, 160 career goals plus 20-odd International goals?
Or is he just tall and thin?

He's nowhere near as skinny as Crouch but he's got the same 50p head and above average ball skills. I think "above average" is pretty apt in terms of his potential though, unfortunately.
