Time for him to be given an extended run in the first team alongside Torres?

How many is that now 6?

I'm not his biggest fan but if the Utd game showed nothing else, it showed that when there are 2 up top Torres gets more space.

F*ck it Roy give 442 a go.

N'Gog may surprise you.

N'Gog won't surprise me, because he isn't fantastic or awful either, but anything not to see any two of Lucas, Spearing, or Poulsen playing in the same team will do me.

Scored 7 now.

F*ck it. It's hard to argue with that consdiering the few goals we have scored.

He's scored what 60% of our goals so far?

Pains me to say it, but I agree with Dreamy.

We're not playing well, and this is not suddenly going to change - therefore having someone on the pitch who is in form and can bag a goal or two is priceless.

As soon as the goals dry up, drop him instantly, because that's all David offers. But get him in the side for now, certainly.

i think after being here for a couple of years, ngog has become accustomed to feeding off scraps and making the most out of solitary efforts on goal every other game.

we won't find that many other strikers who can do this job. basically because there aren't that many teams with as fucking shit a midfield as ours

Just having him in the side frees up space for Torres.

And I have a feelings the goals won't dry up. We haven't had a finisher at the club for a while and we normally create alot of chances so perhaps he could be the answer.

I'm all for this as well. We need someone who will stay forward with Torres to distract the other defenders like we saw against united and he is on top of his game at the moment so he will hopefully get a few against our upcoming opponents.

Also, its nice to have someone capable of getting on a header from a corner so he would be a welcome addition to the area.

He is what he is, I know he's got his detractors but I thought he changed things again when he came on at the weekend and his attitude and intent is always positive.

Meireles and Gerrard in the middle, Torres and N'Gog upfront.

Couldn't agree more Mark.

Reina

Johnson Carra Skrtel Agger

Kuyt Meireles Gerrard Cole

N'Gog Torres

Exactly.

United seem capable of doing it enough without a real out and out DM, there's enough steel there for most games and it's got balance, good players and attacking intent.

Whichever we choose, we will not benefit from any strikers until we start using wide men. COel and Kuyt spent most of the day drifting around the centre of the pitch. We need someone to actually stay wide and stretch their defence wider... The one guy putting in some crosses yesterday was Torres...

Agreed. The game changed when he came on. His hunger, desire and sheer endeavour got the others up for it. We looked like we could almost win it and we hadn't looked in it before.

As it see it the options are:

4-2-3-1

Gerrard Meireles

Kuyt Cole Jova

Torres

or
4-4-2

Kuyt Gerrard Meireles Cole

Torres N'gog

So it's Jova vs N'Gog..

Tough call..

But we cant put ourselves in the situation that everytime we chase a goal to draw the game we put on the extra striker that gives us some edge upfront.

It's a crazy thought though, but Jova used to play for Standard as a striker. Maybe we should use him next to Torres. All these pllayers getting played out of position is killing us.

I wouldn't mind seeing how he fares up front either. So far the left-wing experiment hasn't been too successful.

Plus he looks like the type that will defend from the front, which we need.

We really are missing a left-winger though and Kuyt isn't as effective in a 4-4-2 either. We desperately need more width.

We're so narrow it's untrue, but the only way I can see us getting the beat width out of our side is to play stevie on the right, cole on the left. Still not TRUE width, but gives us more options.

However it's moot cos Roy won't play it & shouldn't, as we need stevie in the centre.

Or giving GlenJo a run on the right of midfield might be worth trying since he's been quite useless at defending lately.

I'd like to go 4-4-2 as well, with Johnson competing with Kuyt for the RW spot.

A right back and a striker competing for the right wing position

what a sad indictment

Maybe a run of games would see a marked improvement in his all round play, and by the end of the season we will be calling him N'God.

Just posted this in the formations thread but can't hurt to repost.. Aldo agrees with the GlenJo RM idea..

John Aldridge would like to see young defender Martin Kelly selected at right-back in the coming weeks - with Glen Johnson moved up field to play on the wing. But what do you think?

The former Kop favourite said: "Personally I'd like to see Johnson pushed forward with Kelly behind him at right-back, as I think that would improve us as an attacking force and bolster the defence.

"We have conceded too many goals from wide areas in the last couple of league games and that is something that needs to be rectified. You have got to stop the ball coming in to the box at all times and a couple of clean sheets would do wonders for the confidence.

"If you had Kelly and Johnson on the right, Dirk Kuyt could slot in behind Fernando Torres and have Joe Cole on the left with Steven Gerrard and Raul Meireles in the middle - a winning combination?"

They're having an 'official poll' on the offy.. maybe Roy has run out of ideas and resorting to an internet vote to make his decisions..

Social Care Monthly?

I think it makes sense, so I hope Roy will do it.

Mangers are often in their own little bubble though.
