Is it arrogance?

It sounds almost unbelievable given that this side has won nothing and isn't even in Europe and yet in almost every game this season we seem to go through long spells of being half-asleep. It's not like we can't match the likes of Newcastle for quality and it's not an isolated incident where you can say "one of those days". It's every week.

There are obviously other factors such as formations that may not set us up in the best way, the odd weak link and so forth but it feels like the problem is more than just the quality we have on the pitch. At the moment it feels like it doesn't matter who we put out there and how we set them up. We've scraped by so far, which is great but it feels like unless this shit is sorted out a slide down the table is coming.

So what is it?

Where exactly was Alberto playing after he came on? Couldn't really tell what we looked like post 4ATB

Injuries and fatigue.

To be honest I think we only needed Lucas on the pitch to win this game.

I'm going off moses big time. I thought he'd be great but instead he looks like a big lazy cunt.

Like 30% of the time Moses is completely amazing, 50% of the time he's nowhere to be found, and 20% of the time he's pretty average.

I think December will trip us badly. Its a tough set of fixtures around Christmas time, and individuals aren't continually going to bale us out.

I think we'll be out of the top 4 by the end of the year, and then struggle to be around the 5th spot for the remainder of the season.

Gerard broke his back for England the other night and put another inept shift in midfield again.
Moses is average and not what we need in that position.
Our bench is too weak aswell.
It needs to improve fast as our luck is going to run out shortly.

Of infinitely more importance...

It's only 8:45 AM for me. I'm not even up this early for class......

A point gained without us getting our passing game together. Disappointing we weren't able to convert some of the chances we did create especially the couple that fell to Studge. Pleased for SG getting 100 League goals.

On another day, we'd have won this game 6-0. We had the chances and didn't finish a lot of them. They scored from a 'worldy' and a set piece, and I think it was Cissokho that fucked up the set piece, but that's not surprising as it looks like he can defend as well as our other fullbacks.

We didn't lose, and come back from a losing position twice, that's positive. And we're due back in the next week or so a couple of players that allegedly make us 'tick' - Allen and Coutinho, so we'll see.

We're still in the top 4 mix, which is exactly where we need to be. Onwards and upwards.

For those complaining about Cissokho, he was a proper attacking outlet, and was one of our only means of getting in behind them. I think he's going to be great at Anfield, particularly when he finds himself playing in triangles with Coutinho.

We've looked fatigued all season so the international break doesn't really feature as an excuse for me.

We're not doing terribly in terms of results but our performances are a worry. There just hasn't been any improvement. We don't even get that 25 good minutes in the first half.

Hopefully this disappointment will spur Rodgers into some kind of action.

I feel relentlessly optimistic. We've had a much better start than I expected and we're getting results without being able to maintain a high tempo throughout each game.

Today was a perfect example, we started slowly and kept the barcodes to minimal possession during this period and yet were able to come back twice and grew stronger as the game continued. Our own inability to finish was the missing link to a victory, nothing to do with Newcastle's stoicism.

We have a home game to follow and then a chance to measure ourselves against Arsenal at the Emirates and I think we'll give a good account of ourselves especially with Coutinho's return.

2 points lost but happy with a point after going behind twice.
Poor defending for both goals but how we acted at their 2nd is unforgivable.

Fatigue played a part when you've got Gerrard and Sturridge playing 2x90 and Suarez flying half way around the world returning one day before the game.

But fuck the excuses. We should have beaten this lot. End off.
The lack of control in midfield is a concern. Our finishing was also horrendous. 6 out of 22 on target.
We need to sort it out quickly.
Apparantly we're looking at spending big on a quality midfielder in January, that will help a lot.

We miss Coutinhos skill and creativity. Moses isnt that type of player.
I thought we were much better when Alberto came on.

Moses is rubbish by the looks of things. He pretty much always does the wrong thing which is fucking tragic when you've got Suarez and Sturridge waiting for the ball.

Performances wise, its indeed worrying that we haven't really put up solid and convincing performances (esp. for the full match) so far this season. But it has been kind of a stop-start season for us in terms of squad availability.

Had to contend 1st 5 league matches without Suarez
Toure's injury just as he made a good start to his Anfield career
Injuries to Johnson and Cissokho that became one of the factors for us going 3 at the back
Sakho probably wouldn't have been thrown straight into the mix had it not been for the situation in the defensive department
Just as Suarez return, we lost Coutinho, one of our main creative outlets
The 3-5-2 + Coutinho's unavailability indirectly causing Moses to be moved centrally

We're usually affected by internationals. Of today's lineup
Mignolet, Toure, Skrtel, Moses were the ones away on international duty
Cissokho (last played on 28th Aug),
Johnson (last played on 1st Sep),
Gerrard, Suarez, Sturridge (played their 3rd game in a week)

In the respective sides' past 4 league matches, Newcastle has scored at least twice while we haven't kept a clean sheet in the league (since the match against Man Utd on 1st Sep). Perhaps the 6-0 drubbing made them look like easy meat but it is worth noting that before that, our last league win at Newcastle came 4 seasons ago (in 08/09). Under the various circumstances, including falling behind twice, I'm content with a point. Just hope that with the players back from injuries, we'll be able to kick on and press on with the tough months lying ahead.

I don't think it helps that we're playing him as a no.10 instead of out wide. Don't get that at all.
