The squares are horrible but they are a subtle nod to the flags on the Kop. More importantly, from a distance they will likely be indecipherable, and it will just look like a classic yellow kit with a reddish collar and cuffs.

To test this, zoom out, or prop your phone on the floor, then back away a few steps then squint.
