New GK

It's obviously ideal to have a great keeper in situ, and there's a history of teams rising up a level after signing one, but the mancs this season have shown you can survive without a top class number one, and Arsenal have shown you can challenge with a series of weirdoes as keeper, so I still think it's not a priority.

Dont think thats true re De Gea, he's really stepped up this season and earned them a lot of points.
He'll, sadly, develop into a very good goalkeeper.
Think he has the second best saves to shots ratio in the league aswell.

Not convinced. He's always been a good shot-stopper, but he's still dodgy in the air and I have my doubts about whether he'll be able to stand up to the power and pace of the Prem over the long term.

Get a young keeper in who can challenge Reina. A kid thats actually good, not some 19 year old no-one's heard of who will join Accrington Stanley in 6 months.

I don't think Reina has the same hunger like he used to. If he did he wouldn't have been so overweight up until around November. That weight should have been off since July. Plus i can't remember the last time he made a world class save to keep us in the game or saved a penalty. I think he's playing in the comfort zone.

I struggle to remember the last time Reina 'won' us a match and I am in favour of his replacement in the near future, but not this Summer.

Reina is a decent enough keeper for a club of our current stature. His decline has mirrored the clubs. The bottom line is the midfield and defense needs addressing and that's a bigger priority.

We need a DM, CB and possibly a LB before we need a new GK.

It looks like Reinas Liverpool career is coming to an end after this season, if the rumours are to be believed.

Who do you want to sign?

For me its 3-4 players I'd target:

Ter Stegen
Biggest talent in Germany. Going to be a fantastic goalkeeper.

Rumour has is that Victor Valdes will be sold by Barcelona at the end of this season, so they don't lose him for nothing at the end of next season.

Barcelona have apparently reached an agreement with Moenchengladbach for Ter Stegen.

On a sidenote, Rodgers was at De Kuip this weekend watching Stefan De Vrij, Feyenoord captain and Holland regular. Could be our new cb.

Yeah I read that, its Marca though. His agent and Gladbach said it was nonsense.

There's no need to sell Reina unless there's a ridiculous offer for him or if he wants to go. I think he's still a top class keeper. I don't know who we should sign if he leaves though.

And what will happen to him if he doesn't play in 6, 12 or 18 months?

There is no point buying a promising young goalkeeper and then never playing him. The only solution is to have an older backup keeper and if you're buying young you have to go the way we did with that Bulgarian keeper and Chelsea with Courtois.

He does look like he's lost a bit of beef in the past few months and he hasn't been as bad as he was. But he's defo still too flaky for a top side.

I don't know about that, all the top sides seem to have flaky keepers!

Well arguably the idea is that you buy someone who will be better than Reina in that time period. If he hasn't, you've bought the wrong player I guess.

AS report that Real Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas has received offers to leave Los Blancos in the summer.

The goalkeeper is enduring an indifferent final few months of the season, having been dropped by Coach Jose Mourinho at the turn of the year, then spent two months out injured with a fractured hand, only to see his return to full fitness met with a place back on the bench.

AS say that Casillas, who has spent his entire career at Madrid, has had offers to leave, with Arsenal and Liverpool specifically named.

They follow on from and reiterate the Daily Mail’s assertion from earlier this week that the Gunners will come forward with a €20m bid in the summer, with Arsene Wenger seen as a keen admirer.

Liverpool are also understood to be prepared to come in with an offer to match their Premier League rivals.

Casillas is quoted by AS as having reportedly told close friends that if his current situation with Mourinho continues, then he will have to consider ‘a change of scenery’.

Can't imagine Casillas jumping ship from Real simply because he and Mourinho don't see eye to eye, given that Mourinho himself will be off in the summer. If Casillas really *is* talking about a possible move, there has to be more to it than just the Mourinho angle IMO.

Casillas will stay.

Mourinho will be off after this season, a new manager will come in and Casillas will be no.1 again.

Can't see him leaving.

Casillas is everything in Madrid. The most popular player by far and he wont leave.
Mourinho will be off after this season.

Keeper Casillas chat surely deserves it's own thread?

He won't be coming here. He will stay at Madrid when Jose leaves.

My post in the She's dead thread is making me look sage like.

I don't know really how many ways there is to say it, the bumping of old threads is not welcome on the forum. You won't get banned for starting new threads.

Forgot to ask you had you any winners at Cheltenham. I had a great week but had feck all euros in my account since I'm not in Ireland. My usual ten or twenty euro bets reduced to a few quid or ew doubles.
