I've clicked on some of the pages and fluked a conversation between Ross and Mark randomly talking about Javier Hernandez's potential before he signed for Man United.

Ross :"But he had shown he could play at the highest level in the country he was in and was a full international at that stage."

I'm pretty sure that defense was used for Origi at one point by the positive brigade.

Ross : " If the player is not playing at the highest level he can at his age/ in his country you're foolish not to consider why that might be."

Determining potential due to playing for his country at the highest possible level??

Determining potential due to playing for his country at the highest possible level??

The wording is in his country, not for his country. The reasoning is simple enough, that if he is playing below the level of other players his age, then you're better off looking at those other players.

Noted Dantes.

I think there's a subtle difference but thats not really important.

The point re Alberto was if his own club don't think he's capable of playing in their first team and the team that have him on loan aren't looking to keep him there are red flags everywhere.

Its obviously a positive that Origi was playing for Belgium(and for Lille).
If you want to figure out the range of possibilities for Origi do some research on players who've scored 1 in 4 in the French and English top divisions at his age. (Don't cry when you see Heskey is a comparator)

Regarding international football, its better that he gets picked than he doesn't obviously but the problem is getting picked for international duty isn't a reliable indicator of future Premership success. Plenty of shit players get capped.

I was just pointing out that you used that defence for Hernandez but discounted it for Origi??

I do agree there are subtle differences as all players are different but we knew nothing of both players (Hernandez, Origi) at the time.

It was hard not to get excited seeing Origi at the World Cup. The hype train was well and truly underway back then. I like Origi btw, he has some great attributes. I hate how he is playing lately though. It's like he doesn't want to inconvenience the centre halves. He is too nice. It's very annoying.

It all fizzled out when we agreed that everyone gets things wrong from time to time, but Hansern, Mystic and Insignificance get things wrong more than anyone

Brendan, surely you saying Frimino is a 'terrible footballer' in the Southampton post match thread is as ridiculous as anything anyone has said? Yeah it's an opinion at the end of the day and I'm sure you are over dramatizing things to hammer home your pre-existing stance about him, but still. Come on like. He might not be the player you or many want to be leading the line for us but to say he is a terrible footballer is ridiculous.

Peterhague had some ridiculous quotes from time to time. The Tony Barrett thread was great.

Where is Peter these days? I wonder does he still HATE Rodgers or has some of the hate subsided with time.

If you took everything I said on here as a literal representation of what I actually do/ think/ feel/ care about, then we'd both be in trouble.

Agreed. The word I used was timid, identified after a mere handful of games because I'm dantes. The solution I proposed was to remove a belt, and beat the shit out of him until he becomes angry and aggressive. It still stands.

I'm not taking everything you say on here as a literal representation of what you actually think. My post was related to one subject, Frimino.

Someone would be forgiven for taking that comment ('What a terrible footballer') as a literal representation of what you actually thought from reading your previous posts on him.

He mightn't be the right person to lead the line for us but he isn't a terrible footballer.

Why is that Alberto thread title fucking me in the face? I've no idea what that is about....but I suspect there is a strange quantum entanglement with my posting the other day that Oncy is as gay as a blob of cum on a moustache.

Edit. Found it. Glad to see I had a healthy dose of scepticism eliciting Oncy's thread title change.

He has possibly been indulging, a little to much, in some murky medieval arcana and his brain has melted into another dimension, lovecraftian-style.

Oh that thread. When he was listing out all our good signings as committee signings and all our bad signings as Rodgers signings with no logic besides from "of course they were it was its blatantly obvious" it was hard not to be amused.
