I thought he was fairly useless, looked like he might do something once or twice, but never did.

We're really struggling in the two wide positions, nobody who plays there seems to be doing a job for us.

He wasn't useless but he was far from brilliant. If you want a definition of useless look no further than Ngog. He's a big lightweight fairy who can't run, pass, tackle, shoot or hold the ball up.

Cole was alright. Nothing more. If we get him fit he'll deffo improve us though. Kuyt was excellent tonight. Industry, held the ball up well, broke well. A few dodgy crosses, but also laid on what should have been at least a brace for Ngog, whose finishing was truly dreadful.

But doesn't deserve "cunt" status.

No-one deserves "cunt" status. Apart from the likes of Diouf and Torres.

Yeah, useless is probably a bit harsh.... but he needs to a lot more than he did tonight for me to want him to stay for another season. We really need to improve on him, Maxi, Jovanovic etc. But I feel like I'm pointing out the obvious.

Yeh he needs to improve. To do that he needs to stay fit and get match fit. Easier said than done.

Is this whole thread just a massive "whoosh" ?
[/quote]

Can't be, there are a few votes for him in the MOM thread...

as someone who didn't watch the game, DID he or did NOT have a good game. JEEZ!

Average. lol @ themn

Cole was the epitome of meh. Improved near the end but to do that all he had to was pass straight

There were long periods of the game were you forgot Cole was even on the pitch, saying that he was better than most of his appearances. Which in fairness doesn't say much.

Maxi and cole are in this photo

I prefer him to Maxi. Occasionally i even noticed Joe was on the pitch.

Surely you notice Maxi and his glaring misses!

I thought he did ok, clearly short of fitness but some signs were encouraging and he surely did better than Maxi usually does (which, to be honest is not a really massive compliment). It's also worth noting that the entire team was a big "meh" (except Poulsen and Ngog who were diabolical)

Cole spent his entire life with his mouth hanging open.

Ha good point.

He was cream crackered though, I still hope he will come good when fit, hes the best 5 a side player at the club.

I thought he was quite good tbh, in a side that lacked pace and a link up at the front.

Wouldn't have played 90 mins without the injuries, and I think he'll have a cracking finish to the season actually. We need players like him in our side.

He was a bit 'meh' until the game opened up in the final 10 when he should have scored. He hangs onto the ball too long sometimes but did show a couple of nice touches. Still has everything to prove in red.

I think the bigging-up stems from a justified optimism that there were little cameos last night of something like the Joe Cole that most of us were expecting, could have scored that some cretin got in the way for and the fact he finished the game.
I suspect Kenny has not given up on him and could see him as a project, it would be seen as a big feather in his cap if he got him back to his best.
Cole has had some shitty luck this season, as I said in another thread, the sending off, the injury, the management issues it's all conspired against him, and consequently he has been playing catch up. I hope he does not get off in the summer, I would like to see him start afresh under Kenny next season.
Who knows he might do something yet this term.

regards

I think it's unfair labelling Ngog a cretin Vlad.

He had a poor game, but if a striker didnt try to shoot in that situation then he's not a striker IMO.

Ngog is nowhere near as bad as many on here would like to believe, & up until very recently has done nothing but improve. It's no surprise that he doesnt play for a while then is rusty again on his return.
