Liverpool are tempted by a possible swap deal that would send midfielder Raul Meireles to Chelsea in exchange for striker Daniel Sturridge.

From that reputable source "Caught Offside".

I'd take Sturridge in a heartbeat. The lad can finish.

Other LFC rumours have linked Soto with Wolfsburg and Joe Cole with QPR(again).

We've been linked with Kevin Doyle as well.

if meireles is fucked off that will leave us with;

spearing
lucas
gerrard (who is becoming increasingly injury prone)
adam
henderson

fighting for a position in CM

And for the moment, Aquilani.

We'd be fucking mad to sell Meireles, we need him, as shown on Saturday. Sturridge would be a great addition though.

It's amazing how Meireles doesn't get much love. Is it because he was signed by Hodgson?

He is as good a footballer as Modric is.

We need him.
I agree totally. I wouldn't swap Raul for Modric.

Different types of player really, Meirieles is your goalscoring midfielder, good movement and clever runs, Modric is more creative and easier on the eye. Both great players mind.

Hmmm i think there was a few Liverpool forums getting the voting link and making sure Meireles got that award. I wouldn't read too much into it.

Anyway Chelsea are free to give us the £30m they are willing to pay for Modric if they want Meireles instead.

Everton 2-2 D
Wolves 3-0 W
Fulham 2-0 W
Stoke 2-0 W
Chelsea 1-0 W
Wigan 1-1 D
West Ham 3-1 L
Man Utd 3-1 W
Sunderland 2-0 W
West Brom 2-1 L
Man City 3-0 W
Arsenal 1-1 D
Birmingham 5-0 W
Fulham 5-2 W

Games started by Meireles under Dalglish
Won 9 Drawn 3 Lost 2

Games Meireles didnt start under Dalglish
Won 1 Drawn 1 Lost 2

He's fucking epic that cunt and Chelsea can get fucked.

I wonder what´s going with Cole. I assume we´re trying to sell him? If we sell Cole and Aquilani- will we have enough creativity left in the squad?

BTW: I´d luv us to sign Sturridge, he doesn´t seem to get a game in Chelsea with Torres, Drogba, Anelka and Lukalu.

QPR said they can now afford 30-40% of his wages. That basically means he needs to sacrifice some cash for regular football. I'd hope Euro 2012 would be a draw for him as would London.
I dont really care about 'lots of people' Spiderman, here is my post from the day we signed Joe Cole

The idea of Joe Cole is way better'n the actual Joe Cole.
In theory he's a diminutive footballing genius who can control the tempo of a game and create a chance out of nothing (this theory is normally the one espoused when he is injured or not playing in the team)
But in practice he's a massive headed slightly downsy looking barrell chested cockerney cheeky chappie who more often than not does nothing of any note on the football pitch and rarely scores or creates anything but occassionally beats a man with a trick before wiping his massive head with his sweatband and being substituted on 60 mins.

Im not always right. But i coulda bet you a million pounds we would regret signing Cole and letting Benayoun go.

I'd be tempted to ship Meireles for Sturridge to be honest.

I'm not quite sure what his role is going to be for us this Season as I can't see him overtake neither of Adam, Kuyt or Downing in the starting line-up. And with Kenny spending big on Henderson as well he's not going to be easy to drop either.

In an ideal world we'd keep him though and get a player in like Sturridge anyways.

*For what it's worth I'd never ship Modric to get a Sturridge however.

You certainly got that one right mate. Well spotted.

I can't imagine that Kenny would sell Meireles, let alone to a competitor. Dalglish means business, why make it harder for yourself?

Well Im not sure what his role is either, but I think saturday showed that we should find a role for him.

Im pretty sure Sturridge will be available if the price is right. They want to sign Mata for 25m to add to the 20m for Lukaku and the 50m for Torres and they still want Modric. Something has to give and you must think that given they have Malouda, Kalou, Torres, Drogba, Lukaku, Mata....its gonna be Sturridge.

I tend to agree. But I'm not convinced.

He looked a breath of fresh air when introduced come Saturday but honestly I don't think he was that good in possession. I know he assisted Suarez but he actually kept hold of the ball too long before letting it go and the linesman could've easily flagged offside. He also squandered a good opportunity and was playing in a 11 vs 10 team.

He made very little impact against Sunderland at home why I reckon the space given by Arsenal suited him. When we are in possession at home against a tightly packed opponent I don't think he's quite good enough. Modric on the other hand.

That was kindof the idea of the cole signing. I thought it would go poorly and said so, but I didn't realize Cole was completely done.
