I was sceptical as he was a Chelsea reject. Boy was I wrong. Furthermore his name in Malay means wrong!

HAHAHAHAHA ok ok but he WAS shit 4 years ago and majorly flopped at chelsea. So i wasn't wrong at the time. He has improved a lot since he's moved to Roma.

He's improved for sure, but he's been a cracking player 4 years ago already. Had we had him in the team instead of Moses that year, we would have won the league, I'm sure of it.

The big question is can he continue this form and finish the season with over 20 goals?

Who was the last non striker to do it?

Gerrard?

Not really a "non-striker" is he though? I mean, calling him a winger is a bit of a stretch IMO. He might not wear #9 and stand smack-bang in the middle but he's not exactly a Steve Heighway type is he?
Not knocking his goal tally or contribution by the way which has been marvellous news.

Of course he cuts inside or runs inside diagonally, or makes runs into the box if the balls in the opposite flank, but we’ve also seen him skin plenty of players this season on the outside. Probably more so than any of our players.
I think it’s an outstanding goal scoring return so far.

No one is, as top teams rarely play with "traditional" wingers these days.
Who was the last (efficient) one that regularly started for a top side? Duff at Chelsea?

What's a 'traditional winger'?

Where does Mane play? Always seems to be on one wing or the other.

There's always been the type of (often one-footed) winger and then another type who weren't quite the same, and maybe cut inside a bit more, but maybe we're just talking about certain players being pretty inflexible and only really able to play one position (albeit on either wing)

What was Barnes?
Or Ray Houghton?

Perhaps it's this lack of flexibility and versatility that has lead to the supposed 'death' of the winger, but it's all a load of fucking bollocks anyway.

Something is always 'dying' or 'dead' in football

4-4-2 is dead
Wingers are dead
Traditional goalscorers (that word again 'traditional') are dead
One-dimensional defensive midfielders are dead
Old-fashioned/ traditional centre-halves are dead

Yawn

Traditional goal scorers are not dead are they? Vardy Kane and Higuain are three typical goalscorers but are still different players. Still their Main attributes that they are goalscorers.

Some fucking leader you are, you were my inspiration FFS!

We are fighting for our right to live. To exist. We will not go quietly into the night! We will not vanish without a fight! We’re going to live on! We’re going to survive!”

“I guess it comes down to a simple choice, really. Get busy living or get busy dying.”

“In either game, life or football, the margin for error is so small. The inches we need are everywhere around us. On this team, we fight for that inch. On this team, we tear ourselves, and everyone around us to pieces for that inch. We claw with our finger nails for that inch. Cause we know when we add up all those inches that’s going to make the f**king difference between winning and losing, between living and dying.”

“Carpe Diem. Seize the day boys. Make your lives extraordinary.”

“And dying in your beds many years from now, would you be willing to trade all the days from this day to that for one chance, just one chance to come back here and tell our enemies that they may take our lives, but they’ll never take our freedom!”

“A day may come, when the courage of men fails, when we forsake our friends and break all bonds of Fellowship, but it is not this day! This day we fight!”

NOW SORT YOUR FUCKING SHIT OUT ONCY!!!

This is exactly why I can't be arsed to take this forum seriously.

That was kinda my point, hence the quotation marks with "traditional".
In recent years it usually meant hugging the touchline, being reasonably quick, pinging hopeful crosses, not being able to score many goals and being ineffective/shit in general (see Downing, Pennant, Ashley Young, Richardson etc.).

Okay, too much time on my hands and the poetic muse literally sat on my face. Here is the song for Salah

To the tune of "New Age Girl" by Dead Eyed-Dick you know the one- "Mary Mo-o-o-o-o-o-n she's a vegetarian....etc"

We've got a new wing-er
(Tell us what he's like)
Really super fast
(Like he's on a motorbike)

Salah Mo-o-o-o-o-o-o, he's a red Egyptian
( Salah Mo, Salah Mo)
Salah Mo-o-o-o-o-o-o, he hates the Evertonians
( Salah Mo, Salah Mo)

Salah Mo-o-o-o-o-o-o, he's a red Egyptian
( Salah Mo, Salah Mo)
Salah Mo-o-o-o-o-o-o, he's going to be a champion
( Salah Mo, Salah Mo)

Repeat ad infinitum.

My gift to you all.

Even if you're tonsil deep in cheek this is really uncomfortable to read.

Hi

Watched the first goal today - he really is turning out to be the real deal in terms of scoring - at this rate if he continues he will get the 30+ goals. How lucky have we got with this guy ? honestly I really thought he would be a right old flop and also never convinced with players that do well in Italy to do well over here. How wrong am I !!!

Is there much thought worth going in to the idea that any decent player in his position would be getting similar results.

Is it a case of the team creating the chances for that outlet, or that outlet excelling?

I know what you mean - like the guy is not a striker, we moan that he is not a great finisher coz he misses chances so he is not really a fox in the box - but seriously he is scoring fucking goals like no other striker - and I have two theories on this:-

1) LFC create loads of chances with the way Klop gets us to play - since Klopp came a long no player has taken advantage of these chances like Mo has been doing.

2) Generally the world over strikers are shit these days - they don't make them or play them like they use to. So because of point (1) - Mo appears better than most.

Struggling to come to terms with just how good this fella is. Gonna score 93 goals before the season is out.

He's been superb but I want to see it over an entire season and beyond.

He'll eventually have a dip in form, I want to see how he reacts to that to see how special he really is.

The EPL is full of players who were one season wonders that never hits those heights again.

Having said that we'd be fucked without his goals this season

Both. But his pace (and back to defender control) is incredible and the source of creating numerous opportunities, both individually and for the team.
