United are in worse debt than us how can they afford to spend like this?
because their turnover is bigger.

500 millon pound bond issue which will stabilise their finances for a while

Moratti is trying to pull a fast one on us because by all intents and purposes we told them to fuck off with their £12.5M + Muntari.

They are reportly looking at Guisippi and Ledesma as alternatives. That I believe is all smoke and mirrors for a last ditch bid before the window closes to drive down price and force our hand.
We should out our foot down and tell Javier that he stays. I would rather let him complete his contract and lose him on a free that sell him on the cheap!

You may change your mind come the end of his contract though

Although if we kept him for this coming season we could still get a reasonable price for him with only a year left on his contract.

St. George, I won't change my mind. Inter are trying to screw us for a player contracted to us who conveniently is vocal about wanting to go to them. Now he is the premier defensive holding midfielder in world football. We sell on our terms or not at all.

I'm not taking the high road here but its the principle of upholding the spirit and terms of the contract!

It's too late to complain about it now.

When he said 'one more year' in 2009 things should have been set into motion, at least behind the scenes.

Yep. If keeping him versus letting him go and not getting a quality replacement is the difference between top four and not, what we lose in transfer fees would be worth it. Champions League = 20 million or more. Unless he is only worth 5 M quid next year or we can get a good enough replacement before August 31, he should stay.

Why so Avvy? Mascherano would still have plenty of incentive to play well through this coming season for us because not to do so would affect his earning capacity at his next gig. For us, it could mean the difference between CL football and another season of Europa shite. So why not make him stay instead of panic selling?

I agree, I was just saying that lamenting about the fact that Inter have us over a barrel is pointless.

This deal should have been in the pipeline a long time ago.

As for keeping him, you could be right..but it might be a gamble..if we keep him and he's so naffed off about it that it affects his play then we'll have gained nothing.

You'd be surprised what a spell in the reserves will do for him.

It stablize it as they dont have to pay interest yearly. However it all adds up till the day they have to pay up everything at once.... Sounds like pant pissing to me.

The Poulsen link keeps resurfacing. Hopefully it's BS, replacing Mascher with Poulsen isn't exactly mouthwatering.

Well it doesnt stabilize their finances for a while. It stabilize their cash flow.

Indeed. Fortunately his agent is reported today as saying they haven't heard from us at all, which is a hopeful sign.

I want Milner. In fact, if I was Hodgy, I'd write O'Neill an IOU for 30m now, and tell him the cash is coming in a few weeks.

I'm quite sure we'll buy Poulsen.

Roy singled him out as one of ten players to watch at the WC and know him as a person too from their time at FC Copenhagen together. He'll even come rather cheap and as he can do a lot of the same dirty work Masher used to it would make perfect sense really.

I don't think however he'll be the only replacement as I could imagine a player like Defour was brought in as well.

Would give us...ehm.... phossibilities.. no?
Was told that we are not actually looking at Defour, but we are looking at Cyriac Gohi Bi and Edouard Kabamba.
We cant sign Someone called Cyriac Gohi Bi. All the children would go to sleep every time the commentator said his name.
Kabamba. Fine theres a Los Lobos song we can use with his name in it. Cyriac go bi bi. no! just NO.

Poulsen can't do the dirty work nearly as well as Masher. No-one can, but Poulsen's past his best in any case. Defour or someone of similar standard will cost a pretty penny, which we won't find it easy to raise, so I'd sooner save the Poulsen money and put it towards that.

Id be more worried about the commentators, remember the trouble with Hyypia!?

Rory Smith is mentioning Defour on Twitter.

Flamini had a wonderful last year at Arsenal and really proved his worth, much like Darren Fletcher at United. Both players who I rate highly.

Flamini does come with a bit of risk though, but he could prove a bargain.

I don't see much of a risk with Flamini. He isn't going to transform our team but he is a very capable player who can tackle well and pass well who would be excellent to have in our squad. He's also versatile and is experienced in this league. Should he be available to sign at an affordable prce we should be all over it.

My issue is he's only had one decent season at Arsenal in his career, and that was playing alongside Fabregas, one of the best CM's in the game.

I like him, but I'm not convinced by him at all.

As long as he plays next to Stevie and not Lucas he'll be fine then.

Looking more and more like Poulsen. Which is really, really shit news, given that he's a bit like a nasty version of Lucas.

ie another cunt

Defour is still being mentioned. Poulsons agent said we hadn't been in touch i think. Perhaps all this poulson talk is like scharner again.

*prays we don't sign scharner now*
