This does give everyone a decent steer as to how shit he is

He's a good player Brendan. Good at what he does. Not spectacular but he'll give a lot of the harder PL players a good run for their money and he can boss most midfields when at his best.

Against the Boltons, Wigans and Stokes he'll be a real asset and as he's used to play at the highest stage (Schalke, Sevilla and latest at Juve) he's not going to fall through.

Shrewd signing at the rumoured really. That's it.

We've made a lot of "shrewd" signings so far.

Shrewd meaning not very good, or with significant downsides, because we don't have any money to spend.

At some point we are going to have to make a strong signing, where we don't replace someone we had, with someone essentially the same, worse, or in Aurelio's case, with themself.

The idea is that we improve on a fundamentally broken midfield, I had thought.

*groans*

Oh my God, how fucking shit IS he?

2 out of 10 shit
7 out of 10 good

If Masher leaves we'll probably see a young upcoming midfielder beeing brought in as well. Someone far more expensive like Defour.

Momo Sissoko kept Poulson out of the Juve team last year because he had more composure in possession.
Sissoko played 17 games last season, Poulsen played 25.

Momo was brought into the Juve team because he could pick out a pass much better than Poulson.
Haha... Brendan will be most pleased.

(It's all lies though)

I knew it!!

I suppose on the positive side of things, it's unlikely that Poulsen will be as shit as Lucas, or that I could hate him more

Surely

The Juve coach tells Poulson to keep it simple- leave it to more expressive players- just pass it to Momo.

LIVERPOOL’S bid to land Christian Poulsen has moved a step closer after the midfielder was given permission to withdraw from Denmark’s squad for the friendly with Germany.

Poulsen’s adviser Joern Bonnesen confirmed last week positive negotiations had taken place with the Reds and suggested his switch from Juventus could be finalised in days.

And now Denmark coach Morten Olsen has allowed Poulsen to pull out of his squad for the friendly in Copenhagen on Wednesday night.

The 30-year-old is expected to arrive on Merseyside in the next 48 hours for further discussions and Roy Hodgson will be anxious to wrap up a deal quickly.

Should everything go to plan, Poulsen could even be hurried into making an instant debut against Arsenal at Anfield on Sunday.

Javier Mascherano’s future is still up in the air, while Lucas – who has done well during pre-season – has just been recalled into Brazil’s squad.

As long as we're paying Mascher's wages, he should play. He's easily the best DM we've got, so I'd definitely pick him for the Arsenal match.

I'm still hoping he'll stay, and that Poulsen is not his replacement, but Lucas's.

What would be the point of replacing Lucas with Poulsen, is Poulsen an upgrade on Lucas?

Poulsen and Masher as a partnership is just as horrible a prospect as the car-crash of Masher and Lucas.

He's here as Mascherano's replacement. Tragically.

God, I wasn't suggesting a partnership of Mascher and Poulsen! The partnership will, I think, be Gerrard plus a DM. In other words, Gerrard-Mascher, or Gerrard-Poulsen, or Gerrard-Lucas. I know which I'd prefer out of those three options.

He most certainly is. Mainly because he's a very good defensive midfielder who'll win you loads of midfield battles as he's already done for years in the Bundesliga, La Liga and the Serie A.

Lucas' main problem as I see it is that there's nothing that he's really good at. He's decent in most aspects of the game but there's not a key attribute on him that we lack in the squad these days. Hence he's mainly adding up the numbers.

He'd probably do well in the Serie A played as the CM with a DM behind him and an AM ahead of him.

If we sign him, he'll play against Arsenal as Lucas probably won't be back in time from International duty. If Mascher isn't sold Roy has said that he could feature aswell.

I was pretty impressed with Poulsen during his spell at Seville. That said, it was in a Seville team in its 'prime' and was about 2+ yrs ago.

Nothing to fear Binny as he's still very good at what he does and as he's still only 30 his best years as a holding DM lies ahead of him.

Not having ago, Kristian..

This is a genuine question; a good number of posters on here have seen him and nearly all are worried and think he's a poor player. What do you see that makes him different in yor opinion?

Because if we get him, i hope you'r right and they're wrong..
