Masherano's replacement

We could be doing with adding a bit of height to the team, Flamini would be a great squad player not sure about a guaranteed starter..

I really like Poulsen and reckon he is exactly what we need to replace Mascher, and for the 6mill quoted would free up 19mill - not that money's an issue nowadays with our Chinese bank account...

Defour is clearly the better player, but is still very young and lacking experience at a big club.. I doubt he'd be able to forfill the 'Mascher role' to the same extent as Poulsen.

In regards to Flamini he'd be a decent signing IMO..

Any of the 3 (or Scott Parker mind) and i'd be satisfied..

How come everyone's got an opinion on Poulsen? I don't remember ever seeing him play.
Seen him play plenty, mostly involving him getting sent off or getting let off for stamping on an opponent. Apart from that, very limited player incapable of replacing Masher.

Fuck, I really don't want Poulsen. 6 mill euros on a player past his best, who is on massive wages at Juve.

I really hope this doesn't happen.

I don't see much of a risk with Flamini. He isn't going to transform our team but he is a very capable player who can tackle well and pass well who would be excellent to have in our squad. He's also versatile and is experienced in this league. Should he be available to sign at an affordable prce we should be all over it.

My issue is he's only had one decent season at Arsenal in his career, and that was playing alongside Fabregas, one of the best CM's in the game.

I like him, but I'm not convinced by him at all.

In fairness, that season was the only one where he played as an out-and-out defensive midfielder. It took Wenger too long to identify his best position, and by the time he had, his contract was up. I'd certainly have him at the right price. And preferably in addition to Defour, rather than instead of.

I think I've seen him play one international match, he looked a dab hand.

Sign him up!

Maybe it just the look of him but when I saw Poulson play I just thought "Scandinavian Robbie Savage".

x2

Scott Parker would be a perfect fit but his age and the cost would be prohibitive. For 6 million you could probably land Flamini or add another 3 million and get Defour. I would prefer a young player with his best years ahead of him.

Apparently Hodgson has stood firm over the price, he's said that Benitez valued Mascherano at £50m at one point in an interview for us, so he should be prepared to pay the money. ;D

linky?

I'm pretty sure that its Moratti whose the cheeky cunt. He can hang his nuts on a pole. Maybe that's why Mascherano looks so pissed in the training photos.

I bet Rafa never thought his valuation would come back to bite him in the ass! Hahaha

FUCK!!

Roy Hodgson has confirmed that Liverpool are in for Juventus midfielder Christian Poulsen.

The Danish international has been linked with a move to Anfield throughout the summer, and speculation surrounding his arrival has intensified since Javier Mascherano announced his intention to quit the Reds.

Poulsen has been earmarked as the man to fill the void that will be left if the Argentina captain moves to Inter Milan, and Hodgson is keen to link-up up with 30-year-old he signed for FC Copenhagen 10 years ago.

Yesterday, Juve technical director Giuseppe Marotta intimated that the Merseysiders had made an enquiry about Poulsen, and the 62-year-old Liverpool boss confirmed as much today.

"If we can sign him from Juventus at a price I consider reasonable, he will be a very good player to bring into our team," Hodgson told Danish newspaper Ekstra Bladet. "Christian is a player I know well, a player whose career I actually kick-started many years ago and I have followed him closely ever since."

Reports in Italy suggest that the agent of the former Sevilla player travelled to England on Wednesday to discuss personal terms with Liverpool representatives.

Depressing
A Poulson and Lucas partnership is the most depressing!!!!

A useless cunt who loves passing sideways partnered with another useless cunt who loves passing sideways and stamping on people

This has all the hallmarks of the worst CM Liverpool partnership in history*

*even worse than last years

Well he was good for Sevilla back when they were winning trophies. What's happened to him since to make everyone think he's utter poo?

Let's hope he will replace Lucas then

Gerrard Poulsen wouldn't be to bad in a 4-4-2.

Hell NO! Its gonna be like having 2 Lucas' in the team. What a joke!

Maybe Roy is pooling all the cash for some mega star striker!

I'd rather Flamini than guy.

Pfft
Id rather have a bowl of Steven Defouropops.

There's no way we're gonna play him and Lucas. He's experienced, Roy knows his game and he'll do a job. People are still hoohar about Lucas getting the armband. Get over it.

We could yet sell Masher and/or get investment, then people will be weighing up what to do with the money, and I bet a defensive midfielder isn't likely to be a big part of how people think we should budget what's made available.

Yes it is, we don't have one, and we need one

And if Old Uncle Roy even *dreams* of playing Poulsen and Lucas in the same team, I will make his life a *misery*

Somehow

You gonna put him on the c u next tuesday list?

Poulsen is obviously a good player and quite a bargain at the rumoured prize.

He won't make masher-like runs from cornerflag to cornerflag and generally he isn't as mobile, but then again who is?

He is a very solid to hard tackler. He is strong in the air. He is a good passer of the ball actually and will even score you a few goals.

30-years-old is a rather good age for a dm too. He Can prove to be a rather shrewd signing frankly.

Not over the Moon but we could've done a lot worse.
