Yeah, KHL. Hopefully with luck on the injury front and stability in terms of managment and fans support, he'll regain that form he showed during his Schalke and Sevilla spells.

Regarding the Mascherano-Arsenal game issue, if we're indeed in talks with Inter Milan/any other clubs about selling him, I doubt he will be risked.

Fair play mate.

Poulsen has been playing at highest level ever since 2002 in the best leagues around Europe.

For a reason.

He's a very stubborn and thorough International who is always giving himself 100 pct. Much like Masher. He knows the game inside out and has learned from his mistakes and when you can get your hands on a player with his talents and experience for a mere £4M you should be happy not sad.

With regards to the posters who thinks he is a poor player, well, they obviously haven't seen enough of him. As he most certainly isn't.

The thing is Poulsens game is actually taylormade for the Premiership somehow why a move seems obvious, only concern could be his lack of overall pace but then again that didn't exactly harm players like Hamann and Sami. He could be a real bargain or he could turn out to be a stop-gap solution for a few years.

Either way we are getting our hands on a player who'll get the job done and whom the manager trusts. At a cut-down prize.
 
Its funny how people are making judgements on him who havent seen him play, or have seen him play a few times.

He is a good player and for 4-6mil, is a good deal

SpiderNeil - my point being, the lad has played at a good standard for many years, in a variety of top leagues. He has never been a world beater, but he has also never let down a club he has played for. If you can see yourself clear to back Babel in the face of adversity, constantly shite displays, lack of interest and effort, and general nonchalance, SURELY you can give a break to a guy who hasnt even signed yet, but has shown total commitment wherever he has been. Perhaps at least until you have some ammunition to shoot at him eh?

yeah might have copped abit but i dont really care. Felt like in the other thread grjt was having a go at me so obviously i wasnt gonna just let him have a free ride. Anyway that doesnt matter, im just saying that its stupid of people to write off Poulsen when most havent even seen him play. As for babel he could be a much better player with the right type of management and confidence shown in him.
 
Poulsens club record is 5 goals in the last 5 seasons. I wouldn't be getting my hopes up for too many goals.

Thats still more than Mascher has scored.

Since 2006

Mascherano - 98 Appearances, 1 goal
Poulsen - 111 Appearances, 5 goals
 
So what? Masher's the better DM by a country mile. I'm not actually against signing Poulsen if the fee is right, but let's not pretend this isn't a step backwards.
 
Nobody is suggesting that Poulsen is anything other than a big retrograde step class-wise compared to Masher

I'm bemused, personally. Why bother trying to replace him with a cheap, old, inferior version?

It would have been far wiser to invest more in someone of a slightly differing skill-set, rather than a worse version of the destroyer we will be losing
 
I think the argument in favour of signing him runs that Poulsen has that slightly different skill set, in that his passing is OK and he sets things up for Juventus more than Masher has done for us. Everyone's going to have to brush up their defensive work in any case with Masher gone.

Possibly. Masherano's fantastic. It would be great to keep him if indeed we are getting new owners and *don't* need the Masher money.
 
Agree with all of that but, if the problem is with Masher's family's preferences as opposed to Masher's own, it may not help in the end.
