10 Million on Alonso and 6 Million on Pepe, cheers Rafa.

Not worth it. The trolls will never allow themselves to see that he did do some good things here. To them he's just a "cunt". I'd rather they continued with their relentless rant. Shows them up for the cunts they really are.
[/quote]

Hang on a minute Spoin. I'm not a troll or a cunt but I do have a view that Rafa did more harm than good over the course of his tenure. It is perfectly legit to have this view and not be thrown in with the mentalists.

That's where I stand too, though I think time will show that he did more good than harm.

I wouldnt have made a single Rafa post over the past 2 days were it not for some posters gleefully commenting about Hodgson's shambles againsst Citeh and suggesting that Rafa would NEVER make a cock-up like that.

But I'll not denigrate what he did achieve.

Mascherano has reportedly suffered a backlash from his own teammates after he pulled out of the Liverpool team to play Manchester City.

The player was described as not being 'in the right frame of mind' to face City, and was therefore left out of Hodgson's starting line-up.

Mascherano's withdrawal wrecked Hodgson's carefully planned tactics as the manager worked on a 4-2-3-1 formation with Mascherano and Lucas Leiva anchoring the midfield, in order to combat City's strength in the middle of the pitch.

However, with Christian Poulsen apparently deemed not ready to start such a big Premier League match, Hodgson was forced to deploy a 4-4-2 system that left Liverpool exposed.

A 'club source' said: "The senior players at the club were seriously hacked off with Mascherano on Monday night and that was clear when he arrived back on Tuesday.

"There are players in that squad who are Liverpool through and through and they were fuming at what Mascherano did."

The Argentinian did train at Melwood yesterday, but reportedly did so alone. Barcelona made a bid for Mascherano on Monday, which was swiftly rejected by the club.

Hodgson said of the offer: "Unfortunately the fee the club thinks is the correct fee and the fee we are being offered are very far apart. Unless that can be resolved he might be unhappy for a long time

Totally agree with that Stu.

To write off anyone who has anything negative at all to say about Benitez (and is prepared to back it up) as a 'troll' seems very RAWK-like to me

Don't think anyone really thinks Rafa is a cunt. He did a lot of good for this club in fairness. His last 2 seasons in the transfer market were disgraceful though and he's left us in quite a precarious position. I know he didn't have much funds available, but letting Arbeloa go and bringing in Johnson, letting Alonso go and bringing in Aqua man leaving Lucas to play a full season. Then there's the whole Keane situation, getting rid of Crouch, etc, etc.
A few people were gicing out about him the other night, me included, because lets face it, it wass his team on the pitch that played so bad. But a cunt, no!

We're holding out for 28 mill euros. Same as City paid for Yaya. Thats the story from Liverpool.no this morning.

well done, lfc

Redshrek said it was Mascharano and Poulsen. Im holding onto that

alonso wanted out but handled in a very classy way, and I believe had real not meet our valuation he still would have served liverpool with distinction

At least he understood that whichever of our remaining CMs he would play would need to be protected by Mascherano.

The problem on Monday was obvious after about ten mins. That De Jong was their free man in midfield and he just sat about 5 or 10 yards ahead of the defence, always there if a move was breaking down, and always covering one of Ngog or Torres so the defence could deal with the other. That meant they kept the ball all night. We looked like schoolkids in comparison - where an extra man in midfield would have made the diff.

But then Alonso was as classy a player as we've ever had. He didn't play enough or I'd happily call him a legend.

Exactly. So im guessing gerrard would have pushed up and N'gog wouldn't have played.

Who is running this shit show? Why do I feel like it's a fucking circus at LFC? Why would we EVER consider an offer less than ~25m POUNDS for the best defensive midfielder in the world? I feel like I'm taking crazy pills!

Barca and this fucking CUNT of a player can FUCK OFF if his valuation isn't met. We need the money but that is no license for Barca to bend us over and stretch our assholes wide open. This is nuts, completely insane.

Also, I can't even put into words how much I hate Javier Mascherano after the bullshit he pulled this weekend. I thought he could possibly be a future LFC captain. May the injury bug follow you wherever you go, you ungrateful twat!

Sounds like Gerrard and Carra feel the same about it as we do. No surprises there really.

This. I also think maybe Reina too, he seems red through and through

Where did I suggest you were a troll or a cunt? I find it legitimate that people question the things he did wrong, what I don't accept is the "Benitez was, is and always will be a cunt" mentality from some of the idiots on here.

That's pretty clear that I'm not throwing you in with the mentalists isn't it?

Earlier in the thread I also quoted that post from Asbo and questioned the logic of beginning a pros and cons list about Rafa as, in my view, the pros would run out quicker than the cons. I presumed you had read this when you quoted the same post.

You are 100% correct to reject the 'Rafa is a cunt line' and I think you know you'd be supported by the majority on here. I liked some things about Rafa myself so I would never call him a cunt.

I think the people calling Rafa a cunt are very much in a tiny minority, and they should be ashamed of themselves. I believe Rafa had to go, but to treat him like some kind of monster is way beyond the pale.

Benitez is not helped by the people who praise him like some kind of God and are blind to his failings. Because they are irritating it kinda makes him irritating by association!

tbh, speaking as someone on the other side of the fence, that effect goes both ways.

being generally positive about rafa, as opposed to generally negative.

Hodgson has given Sunday as deadline day for the Transfer to be concluded.

This seems silly as we need the money to buy players ourselves, this could leave us well short.

Although you would like to imagine giving a deadline of such manner we will have something lined up.

Most people were positive about Benitez, but his last season was unacceptable

And as sunny pointed out earlier, when we did that poll with Benitez, Roy et al as likely choices, more than half of us chose Benitez

And as he also said, the biggest block to success here is the owners

Hodgson has been left with an impossible job
