Macca: I beg to differ, my dear sir. Some such instances might look like less of a gamble than others, but for me that's a matter of perception rather than intrinsic reality. IMO each one represents a significant risk given what's at stake.
25% - Of the 47 bosses to manage over 100 PL games for a single club, only two have a lower win ratio than Martinez (25%) at Wigan.
Will be interesting to see what Martinez can achieve at Everton. He'll soon find out what an excellent job Moyes has done, and they wont be in the top 6 next season.
It's a massive gamble to get Martinez, just as it was to get Rodgers. You know the football ought to end up being quite attractive, but beyond that, no matter what is said in the meantime for or against, it's a big leap of faith.

I don't see someone with a proven track record for winning trophies and winning/challenging for the title as a big a gamble as someone of Martinez's or Rodgers' stature. It just isn't. It might still go wrong, but purely as a gamble not all options are the same.

No indeed, but there are a number of variables which even out the risk involved. The kind of manager who has a trophy-winning track record is only likely to be up for the biggest jobs, for which there's a lot more at stake, and one can never tell how even the most experienced manager will fit into a new club anyway.
My Everton mates already started with the ' didn't join Liverpool because they not big enough, but joined Everton because he wanted a top of the table club'
