I love him, but can people please stop bigging him up as the new answer in formations etc. Insua's already blowing that. I don't doubt he'll be fantastic, but he's played ONE game (out of position). let's not turn him into jay spearing just yet.

It's not just you Assulin, many seem to think he's now our back up RB. He's played one game there. I'd sooner play Carra, Degen, Masher, and Stevie there.

I hope he turns out like Carra and plays fullback for a few years then goes back into the middle. Let's not rush him though.

Yeah but I think he's fully grown and mentally strong enough to start blooding and testing him now, we don't have to put him back in the reserves. he is in the first team squad imo.

Your probably right actually. I just have high hopes for him and don't want to be let down. What happens when he starts making mistakes?

I'm drunk as well, which is a significant reason for this thread.

Well when he starts making mistakes in an ideal world the manager gives him a game or two rest and deflects the pressure onto himself such as Wenger does for his youth and football team in general. Its one of Wengers best attributes (of course he is allowed to do it because he is untouchable) is that he completely misinterprets a game and a situation to favor Arsenal and take the pressure himself leaving his team slightly out of the scope and free to play football. Every good young player makes mistakes. But its necessary to deal with this in order to get the ultimate reward, and Rafa is usually too scared to do this with attacking players which makes little to no sense to me. Actually seems ass backwards whether its you who is drunk or I am.

Some cunt will start a thread about him being the worst Liverpool player ever.

I think you're right in your drunken state though. It is rather premature to start pinning hopes on a young player out of the reserves particularly if it's all coming from that one performance against A.Madrid and the desperation of our current situation.

I think Kelly is a fantastic prospect as I've probably said a few times over the last year, however I'm more concerned about finishing in the top 4 than blooding youngsters into the side right now. I'd love for him to get a few opportunities to build on what was a fantastic debut, but not as a matter of priority.

lyon not athleti, and your right but I think he's a better as an option than Dossena, and adds height unlike Insua. Aurelio has earned the right to be infront of him but I like the yoofs a lot.

Isnt he quite good in the attacking sense? i recall a few Reserve game reviews that stated he was excellent going forward..

if this is true.. Forget about it.

Insua was amazing at going forward for the reserves and had the ability to dribble past countless players.. in the first team he almost seems scared to do anything but pass backwards... I think if he was given more freedom we would see a lot more than an average young left back as we are currently seeing.

I have my doubts that any of the kids will be succesful under Rafa.. Most youngsters start their careers impressing as they are fearless and exciting. Under Rafa they seem more paranoid about the things they do wrong rather than trying to create opportunities.

i just realised something... Since Birmingham i have gone from being a stout Rafa supporter to wanting some serious changes and im ashamed to say it... Wanting a new manager in. i feel like ive cheated on a girlfriend. :-\

Well, if we are going to play him in the first team, it'd be at RB. He's played there enough for the reserves and although he claims he's comfortable anywhere (probably said to show willing more than anything anyways), I think he'd find it easier to settle on the right.

Weren't Degen, Johnson and Darby all injured for that match against Lyon?

gareth, you haven't, she's cheated you constantly to the point you're willing to cheat.

-yep they were keni; but him playing RB would mean giving up on Magic as a defender and moving him further forward when we are clearly weak at LB.

I'd quite like to try Johnson at RW as an experiment and to build his confidence back up... maybe in an easy game at Anfield, not that such a thing exists these days.

We may be struggling at LB but promoting a right sided defender from the reserves who has only really ever played LB a few times at Huddersfield doesn't really sound like it's going to magically solve all our problems. I'd much rather stick with Aurelio.

who would you play at rb while johnson is at rw? (im guessing kelly, but not taking it for granted) which I completely agree with the concept. It gives Kuyt a break for starters but I'm one of the few who back giving Babel a run at the RW spot.

Assuming Degen can't be trusted, I'd play Carra there. I know from another thread it's not a hugely popular idea and of course, it an interim solution / experiment that comes with it's own problems, however I think it'd be worth a go.

I'd be interested in doing as it gives us more time to try the Skrtel/Agger partnership while Carra is on the field to help organize. But if Johnson in midfield becomes permanent in any shape I think Kelly at RB has to be one of our first experiments.

I didn't think girlfriends still had a role in your life, Gareth?
