Unless I've forgotten a match, we've drawn 1 and won 2 in our last 3

Spurs match is hard to call, but we should be full of confidence and Suarez is back so I'm going to be optimistic.

I think a big factor is whether johnson pushes bale back or not. johnson was just back from injury (the spurs away game) and bale had the freedom of the park.

We were shit at WHL, probably as poor as we played all season, but they scored three of their four goals when we had nine men on he pitch.

🙂 2 consecutive wins, hardly a winning run. There's got to be a stat somewhere re: our longest winning runs in each season.

JAR was a beast.

FAR too soon to be making comparisons with Enrique.
[/quote]

It's not old chum, one is a defender and the other wasn't, I think all the lurve that JAR gets on here is because he was around during a lot of peoples formative years.
These are the ones I have seen during my formative years. The only one I did not see make his debut was Gerry Byrne

Gerry Byrne, good footballer, good defender and hard as nails
Alec Lyndsay, good defender hard as nails, also a blistering shot
Joey Jones, what can you say about Joey, enthusiasm in spades and good at kicking people
Alan Kennedy I suppose our first attacking attacking left back, or a defender that could get forward, he had pace too
Steve Nichol our greatest right back and could always play left back to a great standard too, great defender and an intelligent player with an eye for a pass
Gary Ablett RIP, nice guy , but that's about it
Jim Beglin, not a bad player but a bit luke warm,
Stig, hmmmm I think he was better than some people give him credit for , hardworking and honest but apt to get caught out of position
David Burrows (see Joey Jones) but without the ability to kick people
JAR, said it all, not the best defender good going forward the Glenjo of the left
Enrique, has the ability to be up there with the best , ie Alan Kennedy and Steve Nichol

JAR comes above Beglin, Ablett and possibly level with Joey

Well that is my informed opinion anyway.

regards

Agree with 99% of that. We've had better RBs than Stevie Nicol IMHO (Babbel, Rob Jones, arguably Neal), but never a better utility player and I'd pick him at LB in the All-Time XI.

Arguably Neal?

417 games in a row uninjured?

41 League Goals and 2nd most decorated player in English football?

A good player who benefited from playing in a team of mostly even better ones. And what would his injury record (or lack of one) have to do with it?

Spoken like a man who has never seen him play

Live, two or three times. On TV, shedloads. We were still in what's now the Championship when I became a Red.

lol, no mate thats what the prem is.

The championship was equivalent to the old Div 2, and thats when I first went to see Liverpool playing, we hadn't even won an FA Cup back then

Don't understand your first sentence. Your second applies to me too. I first saw a game the year we got promoted to Div.1, i.e.what's now the Prem.

I thought you meant you saw him in the old 2nd Div.

How old are you?

Vlad too.

So you stated going the match at 6-7, do you remember your first day?

I was excited as hell and remember it as clearly as if it was yesterday, weirdly my last match is foggy in my memory

I remember some of it but TBH not a lot. It was at Aston Villa, the last game of the 62/63 season, and we lost 2-0. We were living down in the Midlands by then. I got my dad to take me, even though he was a Gooner and didn't really want to. ;D

Vlad's a few months younger than I am BTW. Right young whippersnapper, he is. 😉

Yep. Only know what I've read, but that's enough to strongly suggest he'd be in my All-Time XI if I had been lucky enough to see him in action at his best.

Ahh mate the 62-63 season we was in the top flight, you didn't see us in the old 2nd Division, we got promoted 50 years ago this season.

Understandable mistake being a nipper at the time

Right you are. We defo were still in Div.2 when I first became a fan though. I realised years later that the name of the club had caught my eye because we were top of that league, and I knew I'd been born in Liverpool, so that was that. The rest, as they say, is history. 8)
