Wenger taking a cheap shot:

Arsene Wenger has warned Arsenal cannot be complacent of their place in the top four as he targets another title challenge - or they could go the same way as Liverpool next season.

While Wenger believes his young squad exceeded expectations and proved the critics wrong by securing Champions League football once again, the Gunners boss could not hide the disappointment of another campaign which promised so much failing to deliver.

With now a fifth season having passed bereft of silverware at Emirates Stadium, Wenger will move to strengthen his squad in the summer.

Morocco striker Marouane Chamakh is to complete a free transfer from Bordeaux, while Fulham's Brede Hangeland and Senegal defender Pape Diakhate are reported targets as the Arsenal manager looks to shore up a backline which leaked 41 goals in the Premier League, which ultimately undermined their title challenge.

Wenger, however, insists no-one at the club can afford to rest on their laurels if Arsenal are to once again stave off the challenge from the likes of Tottenham, Manchester City and Aston Villa.

"The team has made big progress this season, and we want to confirm it next year," Wenger said.

"You can see that it is important to continue to progress every year; look at Liverpool - second last year, this season out of the top four.

And Mourinho confirming the obvious (I wonder if he'll ever got a club that isn't wealthy):

Jose Mourinho has fuelled speculation he will move to Real Madrid this summer by admitting he will coach the Spanish giants "sooner or later".

Former Chelsea boss Mourinho is currently preparing his Inter Milan side for this weekend's Serie A climax where they go into the final round of fixtures two points clear of Roma.

Then comes the Champions League final, in Madrid, against Bayern Munich on May 22.

Recent reports have suggested the Bayern clash will be Mourinho's last on the Inter bench before he switches to Madrid and he was doing little to quell the rumours in an interview with Panorama magazine published on Friday.

He said: "What they write about me having one foot in Madrid and one in Milan is false.

"(But) Sooner or later I will coach Real Madrid. I coached a big team in England, I am coaching a big team in Italy, and then I will coach a big team in Spain."

Well.. For the Mourinho statement just put as much money as your bookie is accepting on that bet. Everyone has their 15 minutes of fame there. John Toschak even had his 15 minutes 3 times (!!!!). In the end he just said that it was worse places been kicked out of... Rade Antic also were there three times. Fabio Capello was dismissed after one succesful season twice, as was Del Bosque. The list of names being there for half a season or so is long... Even Man Utds assitant manager took half a season in charge before he returned to assistant manager at Man Utd. S o for the Special one to claim he will drop by and pick up a farewell package is a certain thing.

Jose's a prime candidate for that treatment too, given the contrast between his preferred tight-as-a-mouse's-ringpiece style of play and the style Real always demand. Interesting....

Not really. Wenger's said much worse before. He's basically just pointing out to Arsenal fans that maybe they should be looking back over their shoulders as much as they look up at United and Chelsea. He's right.
