I love how the man u fans were cheering in a 'sign of defiance', and Suarez promptly scores to shut them up.

Fantastic.

Rodgers on Flanagan:

"I think what has been impressive with Jon, from my perspective, is in the big games he's performed," the 41-year-old reflected.

"He's a young player who has had to bide, but I've watched him closely on the training field and his development, and with the exercises we do with the ball and technique, he's become better.

"He's been able to tactically implement that into his game. He's a very, very important member of our squad. He can play right-back, he can play left-back, and as you can see he is tactically very good.

"He is hard to beat in a duel and is very, very committed. It's great to see young players like that develop and get better."

Is that Mrs Suarez at the front?

Wags were there as well.

Do you knows you a Mata+Fellani will cost you about the same as a Suarez+Henderson+Allen+Coutinho+Sturridge

Good business by utd there.

I really thought he was going to go yesterday, he was probably one minor foul from a red for about 30mins. He did brilliantly to stay composed.

There was one foul that could've seen him off on another day. He definitely falls into the category of a no nonsense defender. I'd have been tempted to sub him if I were Rodgers. Still, he had a good game on the whole and loved the dribble up the left flank where he sold a Utd player.

Yep I thought the same - He was very lucky not to pick up that initial yellow and then later on there was another that Clattenburg let go. Oh well. FUCK YOU MANCS!!!!!! 😀

It was encouraging to see when Rodgers called him over and was clearly telling him what to do to get tighter to Rafael/Januzaj. And in Flanagan's defense, at times he was left with both to mark, with little support infront of him.

I thought he was aided quite well by the likes of Allen for most of the game. There was a 15min period in the game where we were stretched as Utd tried to get back into it but other than that I felt the most of the time defenders often had backup from the midfield.

the amount if stick I had got when I had said that Skrtel is not only better than Toure but also our best defender in this season. I am glad he is proving many people wrong. Skrtel *taking a bow there*

They did, but in the early exchanges he seemed isolated, then I noticed Allen moving across more to cover. He struggled at times, but that happens, he was playing against good players, but tactically we and he adjusted and got tighter. All in all I thought we looked very good defensively. Perhaps the Skrtel/Agger partnership has some legs after all.

Snippet from the Echo:

Alex Ferguson saw it. Diego Maradona was there, and he saw it. So did Roberto Martinez and Roy Hodgson. And Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, watching through his fingers from the Old Trafford directors box.

David Moyes certainly saw it. The Manchester United manager will be seeing it in his nightmares for some time to come too, you suspect.
Wayne Rooney called it the worst day of his football career. He saw it.

Yes, on a day when the world tuned in for the latest instalment in English football’s fiercest rivalry, everybody saw it.

They saw what Liverpool have become. They saw what Brendan Rodgers has turned them into.

Title contenders? You bet.

This feels amazing to have a manager who improves players.

I wouldn't even say Benitez particularly did that

Aine is an Irish name?

Let me guess, it's pronounced kate'.

Nothing would surprise me after learning that siobhan was pronounced 'shavvaurn'.

Ah Jesus Fox, I feel like I know yer mate Siobhan well, you've rolled her story out so much on these boards. Do ya have a thing for the Irish ladies? 🙂 Sado masochism at its worst!

Oh there's no r in how you pronounce it... More like "Shove-on".

You'd have a coronary at my daughters name 🙂

Allen MOTD
Skrtel 2nd

Our attack actually was poor today IMHO.

We battered them in the middle and reduced them to 1 shot on target.

0-3 stuff of dreams.

9 wins to go boys!
I think i had got a lot of unfair stick to say, Skrtel is better than Toure and he has been our best defender in this season

It's self depreciation more than taking the piss mate, simply cos I'm unbelievably shite at learning Irish names! Scousers do often pronounce siobhan with an r in it though like I spelt it out, but then we do pronounce many things incorrectly!

Oh & yeah, I've always had a thing for Irish ladies, the accent alone gets me every time.

Rodgers on the tactics that undid United:

"I wanted to play and have superiority on the inside. I like to flood numbers around the middle of the field in order to control and dominate the game.

"Manchester United's centre-halves drop off, so we could exploit the space in front of that with Raheem's speed and then introduce Philippe [Coutinho] to the game.

"We worked it the other way against Southampton, where we felt that we could play through and get it into Philippe, who could then open the game up, then bring Raheem into it later when it opens up.

"In this game, because of the pitch and the nature of Manchester United, being at home they have to attack, it would allow us to get round the back of their midfield. For a young player of 19 years of age, he is developing really well tactically.

"Both boys on the side - Jordan Henderson and Joe Allen - were exceptional. They very rarely get mentioned, especially Joe Allen. But the tactical intelligence of both to play on the side of a diamond, with Steven just in behind controlling and dictating the tempo, was very good."
