I've deliberately allowed my borderline fury at that 'performance' to subside before commenting here...
That was absolutely pitiful. And weather is no excuse. They simply wanted it more than we did today. And that's unforgivable. They outworked, outthought and outfought us. At Anfield. Going for a league title. Simply unacceptable. This was sooooooooo much worse than the Forest match. I hope Slot punishes them in training this week. I hope Forest feel the sting of how angry this team SHOULD be, next weekend.
Other than Macca, Virgil and Ibou (who was out on his feet after 70 mins), practically everybody, including the manager was largely diabolical, ESPECIALLY after grabbing a thoroughly undeserved lead.
Sell Darwin. He's a child, who shows occasional flashes of being good at football, but he's too mentally immature to have on a truly good team.
And, finally, I think that I invented new bad words, as I screamed at our vice-captain this morning... Was he drunk? On the take? Can anybody offer any legitimate explanation for what he offered forth today? I genuinely cannot remember a single worse performance by any LFC player, ever, since maybe Djimi Traore... Maybe.
Take anything that Madrid will give and help him pack his suitcase. Tonight. I can live with a player having a game where everything he touches turns to shit - Who hasn't been there, even at our Sunday-league levels? But today..? Today was an insult to anybody, anywhere, who cares about this club. He would have inflicted less damage upon us, had he gotten himself sent off after 15 seconds.
I've been out on him ever since I saw the slow-mo replay of his 'effort' to defend Everton's 2nd goal, last year, at their place, when we were still fighting for the title... Well, today was THAT level of effort for the entirety of the match. At home. Against THESE cunts. While we're fighting for a title. I'm actually disgusted that he's our vice-captain. He simply doesn't deserve it, and hasn't since quite a bit before he was awarded it.
If THIS is how much he cares, how hard he's prepared to fight for us, he needs to just go. Tomorrow. THIS version of him will not be missed.
I get what you're saying but imagine how deflated they'd feel if we won.As pissed off as we are tonight, can you imagine what the mood must be like with Chelsea and Arsenal fans, looking at how shite we were and knowing they failed to gain 2 points on us this weekend?
I was one of them. I honestly thought we could slip up given the rivalry and how wounded Man Utd was.If those moaning about a potential banana skin had just kept their damn mouths shut ...
It's always a possibility, this is THE derby match in our calendar. No matter how low one of us are, or how high the other is riding, matches are normally ultra competitive.I was one of them. I honestly thought we could slip up given the rivalry and how wounded Man Utd was.
Yup hence I didnt know where all the confidence from some of us came from. It's always a possibility, this is THE derby match in our calendar. No matter how low one of us are, or how high the other is riding, matches are normally ultra competitive.
Yesterday's started off slow but the 2nd half was a real derby match. However we should still have won on chances created - we're not a clinical team, we win on weight of chances, and that cost us points (as well as Trent playing like a fucking Sunday league cockalorum).
It came from recency bias. Both in our record against them at Anfield since Klopp plus their form.Yup hence I didnt know where all the confidence from some of us came from.
I thought we would have won though if not for Trent, and for Slot not taking him off.
Trent played like someone who hadn’t slept all week and had a criminal threatening him and shagging his Mrs.I've had some time to calm and collect my thoughts.
1) I'm disappointed in a lot of you on here with the cricket score bullshit. Do you never fucking learn
2) I'm disappointed with slots decision making today. Trent should have been hooked before Jones. Jota on for Diaz, bradders on for Trent. Then after the pen, endo on for gakkers and ease back
3) I'm disappointed in the attitude of some of players. Some were going through the motions when we needed them to step up. We could have been 8 points clear with a game in hand.
4) I'm disappointed most with Trent. A pathetic performance of a mentally weak boy. If he wants to leave and he's informed the club, sell him. I'm done. If this is the calibre of performance we're going to get over the next 6 months, then get rid. I'd rather make do with Bradley and promote someone than persist with someone protecting them self from injuries
Trent played like someone who hadn’t slept all week and had a criminal threatening him and shagging his Mrs.
He was rattled early doors and never recovered. Such a shame Bradley wasn’t brought on at HT. If he was I’m we walk it second half.
Who do you think was strolling around (Trent aside)?
True, but then why keep Trent on the pitch?Just put this in another thread - and not seen it mentioned much. The two players who normally support Trent on that side (Ibu and Gravy) were both on 4 yellow cards and this definitely held them back from asserting any sort of dominance over the United players.

Everyone home supporter in the ground wanted him off at half time.True, but then why keep Trent on the pitch?
A question directed at Slot, obv.
Rightly so. I was afraid he was going to get booed when he got subbedEveryone home supporter in the ground wanted him off at half time.
Ya hence I dont buy into the 'they thought they could just turn up and win' and its a kick up the hole for them.I didn't think anyone was necessarily strolling around like Trent was. there were a lot of poor performances, but those players married it with good work ethic at least.
When Michael can see what you don’t you need to give your head a wobble. He was atrocious.I don’t think Trent was that bad - but the hate for him is that strong now it doesn’t matter, nothing he does now is going to result in anything other than more hate.

I dont think so. He was stretching to get to it.Also need to mention that Virgil HAD to score that header late on too. It was gift wrapped.
It came from us being top and United being utter shite this season (and from sweet memories of the 7-0) 😉Yup hence I didnt know where all the confidence from some of us came from.

Normally Slot sees this so clearly. I think the pressure brought about by RM's bids for Trent, and that connection, fucked Slot (and us) up yesterday. I hope he's learnt a valuable lesson there. We also for some reason produced one of our worst displays as a team this season when it mattered. Its a sign of strength that we were able to turn the game around and take the lead, but also a sign of what we need to work on when we couldnt close the game out. Inexcusable that we were so open after going 2-1 up. Shame we didnt bring in the likes of Endo and Bradley as soon as the goal went in.
The game was screaming out for a controller and defensive type, and we just couldnt keep the ball for long periods of time.
Ah well, onto the next game. Not much we can do with yesterdays result now.
Easy to say in retrospect, because he was stretching for it but still got a good connection, but a glance, instead out of the centre of his forehead, and he would have scored.I dont think so. He was stretching to get to it.
Nah sorry but being targeted doesn't make you play horrendous Hollywood balls and constantly make poor passes, that cost us goals, it also doesn't stop you running your arse off and tracking back instead of strolling around like a prima donna.Maybe - just feel the criticism is going a little too far.
Yes he wasn’t great, but also, he was targeted and very effectively so.
