I've deliberately allowed my borderline fury at that 'performance' to subside before commenting here...
That was absolutely pitiful. And weather is no excuse. They simply wanted it more than we did today. And that's unforgivable. They outworked, outthought and outfought us. At Anfield. Going for a league title. Simply unacceptable. This was sooooooooo much worse than the Forest match. I hope Slot punishes them in training this week. I hope Forest feel the sting of how angry this team SHOULD be, next weekend.
Other than Macca, Virgil and Ibou (who was out on his feet after 70 mins), practically everybody, including the manager was largely diabolical, ESPECIALLY after grabbing a thoroughly undeserved lead.
Sell Darwin. He's a child, who shows occasional flashes of being good at football, but he's too mentally immature to have on a truly good team.
And, finally, I think that I invented new bad words, as I screamed at our vice-captain this morning... Was he drunk? On the take? Can anybody offer any legitimate explanation for what he offered forth today? I genuinely cannot remember a single worse performance by any LFC player, ever, since maybe Djimi Traore... Maybe.
Take anything that Madrid will give and help him pack his suitcase. Tonight. I can live with a player having a game where everything he touches turns to shit - Who hasn't been there, even at our Sunday-league levels? But today..? Today was an insult to anybody, anywhere, who cares about this club. He would have inflicted less damage upon us, had he gotten himself sent off after 15 seconds.
I've been out on him ever since I saw the slow-mo replay of his 'effort' to defend Everton's 2nd goal, last year, at their place, when we were still fighting for the title... Well, today was THAT level of effort for the entirety of the match. At home. Against THESE cunts. While we're fighting for a title. I'm actually disgusted that he's our vice-captain. He simply doesn't deserve it, and hasn't since quite a bit before he was awarded it.
If THIS is how much he cares, how hard he's prepared to fight for us, he needs to just go. Tomorrow. THIS version of him will not be missed.
