Yeah, actually I take it back – he did mess up defensively a few times. Wijnaldum is 3rd then. Coutinho wasn't bad either, just not completely match fit.
I don't know why you guys are saying the rest were hopeless other than Firminio ? - would you be saying that Firminio was not hopeless if he had not scored today ? - I doubt it. I did not see anything different from any other match I have seen this season with those players - apart from Coutinhio been a little off the pace. I suspect none of you would be saying any different had we won the game 3-2.
No what you ALL saw today - was the usual way we play MINUS Mane. That means that you witnessed slow pedestrian build up play where every cog in the Klopp machinery has to be in sync otherwise it lacks precision. There was no clear cut chances in the final third created by the team - it was all congested like ALL the other low level opposition we have played against. The result of course was as you ALL should have expected - especially if you have zero players who are strong enough to take on the opposition defenders to create the desired space and provide the option of pace.
No matter how badly you may think of the likes of Arsene Wenger - there is a reason why his Arsenal have qualified for nearly every CL - he gets that the PL is built on pace and he has always employed pacey players that can run at the opposition - nearly 100% of times it is these types of players that can take care of low level opposition - our problem for many years has been having players good enough to take on the big boys but lack the strength to take on the lower level teams when they are fighting for their lives - that is only done with strength and pace.
This is a game we should have won perhaps 5-0 if we had just one player up front with Coutinho/Firmino that had pace and strength - I am not asking for a world class goalscorer (I don't think Mane is). Terrible day but expected so I am not really that upset as my loss shield was already on red-alert.
