Anyone fancy a wager on City finishing higher than us? I'm backing us of course.
They obviously will.

But then again, you're mental

I hate Man City cos i'm a huge fan of Silva but I now want him to do shit, really am gutted he went there and not here.

Silva is a big signing for them. They also seem quite keen on Dzeko.

They don't need Messi to win the title. When Chelsea bought Drogba for example, no-one really expected him to be as good as he is.

In fact, they were widely mocked by the media and jealous rival fans that they didn't have the necessary clout as a club to secure the real "marquee" worldwide superstar signing that Abramocunt craved.

Like that was ever Mourinho's concern.

Also, where do you think they'll finish in the league? I find it hard to believe that a team with so many fundamental changes will beat Chelsea and United to the title, but equally I can't see them failing to finish in the top 4. Third is my guess. Which would leave Arsenal, Spurs, Villa and us battling it out for fourth...
I can really seeing them challenging United & Chelsea, especially United who don't seem to have the cash to flash and who Ferguson has said won't buy big this Summer.

Mancini has experience of the EPL now and knows what to expect and how to play it - Citeh haven't even bought their 'big signing' yet. And if they are in the hunt come January you can bet your Nan's falsies they will strengthen again. Between us, Arsenal & Spurs for 4th.

1. Chelsea 2. Citeh 3. United 4. Liverpool (more hope than expectation) 5. Arsenal 6. Spurs

It'll be interesting to see how Fergie copes with not being able to bring marquee signings into his squad (as he's used to). He 's having to identify younger promising players nowadays with the financial constraints on the club. There'll hopefully be a steady decline over the next couple of years at Old Trafford.

I certainly can't see Utd winning the league this season.
[/quote

A Utd fan i know was saying that OZIL was v.v.v.v.v close to signing for 25 million - But decided to stay in Germany for a year or so...

doesnt sound like they are broke.

I'm not overly impressed with their midfield, and I've never been a big fan of Silva either. I do rate Adebayor though, more than everyone else do it seems ???
Silva has been the best player at Valencia for a few years now.... also a complete tool by all accounts, Villa is supossedly a sound fella and Silva swanned round as if he owned the place.

Sounds like 70% of their team!

Man, sucks to think where we should have been with better investors/owners...

ANYWAY!
id hate to have owners like Man City -

Buying everyone - earning very little in respect and having to pay everyone a shitload to convince them to play in Manchester. They target money focused players like Adebayor and Robinho as they realise nobody with any self respect want to be a part of their short term success.

To think that all the players in the squad are only there due to the stupid amount of money they undeservedly earn - i dont think id be able to watch games without breaking my TV.

It's all good for city now but in a few years time they will be fucked. Uefa's new financial rules come into play when your only allowed to spend what you earn from income on players and wages.

Suppose increasing our marketing and revenue is something we should thank the owners for

and the line is baited

I'd wager that their club will be far more popular and their revenues pretty high.

Don't Chelsea have one of the highest turnovers around? Expensive tickets must play a part in that, but they must be getting a lot of money from commercial bodies plus CL etc.

Was there not some moronic thread about Silva on here when we were linked with him? "Silva the new X without the goals" summet like that.

'Garcia' without the goals. Not entirely fair, but he's never worth the money. Lightweight, not quick, not strong, doesn't score that much. Clever player, but 20 odd million for that? No thanks.

I'd have Navas pretty quick though.

Small, not very quick, doesn't score many

A £25m Luis Garcia without the goals

That's what I said, and it's still right

In 2009 Chelsea had a loss of 44 mill £, and a drop in turnover acutally..

100 pounds? Think about it, you can't lose.
You're on!

Just to be clear: if Man City finish higher than Liverpool, you owe me £100?

And vice versa, obviously.

How do you want to pay, MM?

I wouldn't, I'm afraid. Talented player, liked the look of him in flashes in the WC, but he's a homeboy who I don't think will ever flourish other than within a totally Spanish set-up.

Navas surprised me in the world cup, looked a good wee player. I'd definately have him in our squad, though that isn't saying much.

They have rebranded their reserves - The Elite Squad ;D

http://www.mcfc.co.uk/News/Reserves-news/2010/July/Elite-Squad-fixtures-released

City’s Elite Squad – formerly known as the club’s Reserve side – will kick off their Barclays Premier Reserve League campaign with a home clash with Aston Villa on August 31.

There will be two Manchester Senior Cup matches played prior to the Villa game, with City taking on beaten finalists Bolton away on August 17 and then playing against Manchester United on August 24.

The first home League derby against the Reds’ second string will be on November 23 and all home fixtures will be played at Hyde FC’s Ewen Fields with a 7pm kick off.

In what promises to be an exciting season, the Elite Squad will also play Arsenal, West Ham and Chelsea in the coming months.

The structure of the League has changed for this season – it has been split into three groups, Northern Group A, Northern Group B and Southern Group – the Blues are in Northern Group A.

Each team will play home and away against the other teams in their group and once against all other teams (equally divided home and away).

The winners of the two Northern Groups will play each other with the winners then taking on the Southern Group winners to determine the Barclays Reserve League play off Winners.
