... are really stockpiling players now. Even if they ship out the likes of Bellamy and Ireland, they're still going to have an amazingly deep squad - as good as, if not better than, Chelsea's. But what will their first team look like? I can't even get my head round it at the moment. Anyone want to guess?

Also, where do you think they'll finish in the league? I find it hard to believe that a team with so many fundamental changes will beat Chelsea and United to the title, but equally I can't see them failing to finish in the top 4. Third is my guess. Which would leave Arsenal, Spurs, Villa and us battling it out for fourth...

people are talking about them pushing hard for top 4, they should have nothing less than aspirations of the league.

They're guaranteed top 4 I'd imagine. I owuldn't be surprised if they finish within 6 points of the top either.

Tragic as it sounds, we really should be looking at Bellamy and Ireland etc. British players who'd be hungry to prove something. They're very decent as well.

The worrying thing is, is that they've probably got 1 or 2 more big name signings yet to come in.

If Roy can get the best out of what we currently have and is allowed to spend what he generates through sales, we can still get into the top 4 quite comfortably.

I certainly don't think that the scum or the gooners are out of our reach this season.

I can really seeing them challenging United & Chelsea, especially United who don't seem to have the cash to flash and who Ferguson has said won't buy big this Summer.

Mancini has experience of the EPL now and knows what to expect and how to play it - Citeh haven't even bought their 'big signing' yet. And if they are in the hunt come January you can bet your Nan's falsies they will strengthen again. Between us, Arsenal & Spurs for 4th.

1. Chelsea 2. Citeh 3. United 4. Liverpool (more hope than expectation) 5. Arsenal 6. Spurs

They are close to having a league winning side, if they replace Adebayor with a world class striker then they'd be my favourites to win the league.

It'll be interesting to see how Fergie copes with not being able to bring marquee signings into his squad (as he's used to). He 's having to identify younger promising players nowadays with the financial constraints on the club. There'll hopefully be a steady decline over the next couple of years at Old Trafford.

I certainly can't see Utd winning the league this season.

Gk: Given, Hart, Taylor
RB: Boateng, Zabaleta, Richards,
LB: Kolarov, Bridge, Garrido
CB: K. Toure, Onuoha, Boyata
CB: Kompany, Lescott, Logan
RM: Silva, SWP,
LM: A. Johnson, Ireland, Weiss
CM: De Jong, Vieira, Etuhu
CM: Y. Toure, Barry, M. Johnson
CF: Adebayor, Bellamy, Jo
CF: Tevez, Santa Cruz, Caicedo

They can fucking form 3 teams.

I'm not overly impressed with their midfield, and I've never been a big fan of Silva either. I do rate Adebayor though, more than everyone else do it seems ???

That third team is fucking shite though
[/quote]

Well I was scrapping at the bottom of the barrel.

However, more signings will mean those from the second team will drop into the third.

Aren't there new restrictions on the squad size and number of 'home-grown' or youngsters that must be included ? Or is that 2011 ? If so Citeh have a lot of selling to do to.

Good point.

Squad of 25 + 8 homegrown players. Those under 21 can not be in the 25 man list.

I think you'll find that Ireland isnt British.

Having it all in paper is one thing. Making it work in practice can be another thing altogether, as Real have found out at times. Citeh certainly do look well set up, but I'll reserve judgment on their chances of winning the league until I see if Mancini can turn those players into a real team unit, which won't be a walk in the park. If they had Mourinho in charge I'd tip them for the title now.

I think their CB's aren't the best. Wenger had talked about wanting to play Yaya at CB for them, wonder if City will? Though their CM is nothing special. And Ade is good on his day but not consisent enough for me. That said I can't see them not finishing in the top 4 with the strength in depth they have.

Arsenal, City, United and Chelsea will all finish above us. Spurs too, probably.

I think City may buy the title.

If that's the best XI they can put out, I'll be relieved. It looks very solid - they won't concede many - but lacking the spark of genius provided for their rivals by the likes of Arshavin, Fabregas, Rooney, Drogba, Gerrard and Torres.

Assuming they can't get Gerrard or Torres, who is their 'big signing' for this summer? If they had a Messi/Ronaldo/Villa, I'd tip them for the title, but right now I can see them getting bogged down in too many 0-0s.

don't think that will happen as the players are on a fortune.

there certainly will for all the old city players who have been there for a while and not on par with the new lads. I still think Ireland, weiss, m. johnson and a few more might decide to eff off if they get no game time

They'll sign Milner, Dzeko/Ibrahimovic and a few others before they're finished.

Can't see them not being top 4 next season.

I have heard that statement being made pretty much every season for the last 10 years. It should be banned from all LFC forums.
